Your hate of older fans is pretty disgusting. Why wouldn’t those older fans, have been at Wimbledon , MK Dons or Chelsea. It was over 25 years ago and it’s not unusual, much to your annoyance, for supporters to still be following the City. Did you know everyone there? Were you such a big shot that you knew everyone that went? I don’t suppose anyone remembers you there. Why pick out big matches? What about the 7 and 8 thousand fans in the 80s Were you one of them? I was but don’t remember you in particular. Perhaps you were one of the BS and commanded some respect. Whatever, you seem a pretty nasty and vile person.

You had a pop at Happy Clappers, who you despise with a passion. There are plenty of fans who do not come under either Happy Clappers or Boo Boys. You’re an ageist and misogynist.Do you seriously not think that  all teams have older fans? Take a good look next time you go away and you’ll also see plenty on the TV. It’s more likely that they have been going for years rather than just started going in their 70s.

The happy clappers are a barrier to success tho. They don't really give a shit what the results are, what division we are in, the financial  mismanagement by the clubs executive or watching garbage like Ward, Coady and BdcR embarrass the shirt.

Those were the days. In 1987 we only achieved 10.000 once!!! I went to all of them.

Yep, I got free tickets in those days and couldn't give em away, and those peeps called our club shit and supported the Mancs or Liverpool.  Today, those same mofos are taking there kids wearing our blue and chanting out club with there grannies etc like it's some family picnic.  Hypocrasy.

In the mid 80s I was a student and my neighbour was head of security at Filbert street. He used to let me sneek in through the old main stand. Considering we were only getting around 7000 I would have several rows of seats all to my self. I had to shout if I wanted to speak to the nearest person.

I know there were positives about those times, but mainly was beyond grim being a fan back then.

I disagree pal, no social media etc, shit overpriced crap.  There was something real and genuine about the club and being a fan.

I hated the racism and violence but the football on the pitch and off was what it was, full of hope.

Sorry, but this just isn’t true. Other teams away ends have a much lower percentage of older fans. The bigger or more fashionable clubs are much more attractive to younger, male fans. Even Leeds, Newcastle, Everton, the Sheffield clubs - and these haven’t won anything in ages. Ladies didn’t really go to the football in the 80s so it doesn’t add up we’d have so many 70 year old women who have been supporting us that long.

 

This is not me criticising older fans, but I will criticise the club for making it a ‘family club’ and being overly corporate instead of trying to make the club something cool that younger male fans will support. It’s just common sense that this demographic is the most vocal and lairy and that lifts the atmosphere.

 

Also, I hate to say it but football naturally means more to younger people without families or a sense of direction in life. It’s an escape from disillusionment and pride in a local team which they are less likely to have found in themselves yet. Again, not a criticism - as I’ve got older I’ve realised football is less important than it used to be. 
 

What isn’t good is thousands of people turning up just out of habit and respecting the owners more than the historical institution that is the football club. There’s no pride in that and it dilutes the experience for those who see the club as a meaningful representation of the community.

I remember many seasons with little hope.    That said, on balance I'd probably take those times over what we have now, wouldn't have said a decade a go though.
