Martin might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but at least he has a vision. This club needs a vision. Top clearly wanted that two years ago when he appointed Enzo – a progressive coach, possession-based football and then completely panicked last season with Cooper. No direction, no identity.

Martin’s football won’t suit everyone, but we’ve got players who are keen to play that way and actually capable of doing it at Championship level. Think about how Winks, Mavididi, Ricardo, and could thrive ago in a high-possession, build-from-the-back system.

Yes, it’d need serious recruitment if we go back up. You can’t rock up to the Prem with a budget version of that style and expect to stay up. But that’s true of most managers we could bring in.

The difference with Martin is you know what you're buying into. The way his teams play is clear, structured, and it does in fact work when given the time and tools. He’s not another dinosaur saying gerrit forward.

So might not be perfect, but it’s a plan. And after the last couple of years, that would be a massive step in the right direction.

FYI - Im sober and havent fit into a pair of skinny jeans since 2016 ;)

So does Rohl and its much better than the out of date Martin ball.

It's a plan that recent history tells us a) a significant portion of the fanbase, whether justified or not, will never get behind and b) has a very good chance of unravelling in spectacular fashion upon contact with the Premier League, should it take us that far which is no guarantee. I don't think it's the very worst appointment we could make but it's one I would struggle to muster any enthusiasm for whatsoever and would do very little to dispel either the general feeling of misery around the club or the sense that the people running it do so with as little effort and imagination as possible.

Fair points, I genuinely get where you’re coming from. If things start rocky it could turn toxic quickly. That’s the risk with any manager who brings a distinct style. But I’d argue that sticking with no style or trying to please everyone leads us nowhere – which is exactly where we ended up last season.

As for the Premier League I agree it could get nasty. But so could any other appointment. There’s no “safe” choice that guarantees success in both leagues. You either roll the dice on someone with a plan and back it properly, or you just keep reacting and firefighting.

Yeah I’ve said already that I’d rather Rohl. But I don’t think the club want to pay compo

They spent 3m on Edoudard sure they will find it and the manager is the most crucial role over any player

Same club that didn’t want to pay £3m compensation for Corberan 🤦‍♂️

Never trust a bloke with a first name as a surname. Basic stuff really. Phil

Sounds like we shouldn't trust you either then, Phil. Or Grant. Or any of the men in your family, not even that tryhard Billy.

It all makes sense now.

If compensation is paid for a manager does it work in the same way as buying a player regarding PSR?

if he cost us £3m and we gave him a 3yr contract is that £1m per year?

You're going nowhere, Jon. And you're thrilled to death about it.

I would suggest about 95% of the fans who sit around me have never heard of Rohl.

Good thing 95% of the fans around you aren't the entire fanbase

Rohl is this summer’s Corberan.
We will end up with Martin.

Baffling the club still refuse to pay for managers probably higher up the wanted list opting for the “cheaper option” in employing an out of work manager…. Before sacking them off 4 months later paying out more to get rid of the cheaper option than it would to appoint the better fit and pay the compo lol
