Subbing Vardy off was a crime and therefore Ruud should not be here next season.

So Vardy can score his 200th v the red dogs next week

To be fair on Bednarek I just saw he has a pitiful release clause so largely irrelevant but rumours are multiple clubs looking at him. Ramsdale is linked with Bournemouth and has been a decent player this season. Harwood-Bellis is likely to go to somewhere like West Ham or Palace.
Ramsdale and THB in perticular will have many teams sniffing around, they were nowhere near the issue this season.

The trouble is Bednarek is shit and the other pair I highlighted went to Saints for decent money so unless they're taking hits on them, they won't go.  They cost around 20mill a piece.

Who was it on here who said Southampton were 'light years' ahead of us. We are multi-layers are shit, but i think Southampton are the worst PL i have ever seen.

Ffs don't give Rudkin any ideas

If we buy any more defenders off Southampton, we should just go ahead and fold the club.

I think this ideology needs to be rephrased. Southampton have less high earners on their books, which possibly affords them more financial flexibility. We’re cash rich, we’re just operating in such a way that we’ve hamstring ourselves, because we’re ran by a pack of gibbons. Saying Southampton are in better financial shape than us makes us sound poor, when that’s not the case, we’re just generally shit from Top to arsehole.

It doesn’t need to be rephrased. We all know exactly what it means. And it doesn’t matter how cash rich an owner is, if he’s afoul of the PSR, his club is effectively poor.

I am still a little bit puzzled by today’s selection. Why suddenly skipp? Why Coady? What do we possibly have to gain by putting out a ‘ sensible’ line up? Perfect opportunity to give the kids a bit longer.. and could there be absolutely no one else available to come on? Did it have to be Daka?

Faes is a Belgium international...

I might be wrong but I believe Faes would have been better if our midfield was half decent or if he had a good DMF in front.

Or if he wasn't dog shit.

We had a lot of fans a few years ago giving the stick and criticising Tielemans (even for his weight). I'm not saying Faes is a top CB but when the back line is constantly on pressure because of a non existent midfield unit you can't blame him. Let's ask Maldini how confident would have been with a midfield of Skipp and Soumare.

Having a shit midfield doesn't excuse Faes from also being absolute shit as well.  We're not always under pressure because of the midfield, Faes creates pressure for us himself.  I think Maldini would have been pretty confident in himself behind that pair because he was a world class generational talent, one of the best defenders to play the game and not a steaming heap of excrement disguised as a footballer.

Glad I got a ticket if only to see Vardy score for the last time live. But jesus wept we have some truly dreadful players

Surely that assessment wasn’t based on today’s match? Yeah the team have been abysmal this season but today I would say only K-Mac was disappointing (but he wasn’t dreadful.) I thought the rest of them were very good. ELK was outstanding.

And BOOM there goes my last game as a season ticket holder after 28 seasons.

It was a bit crap but there have been far, far worse notes it could have ended on.

Actual goals were scored, the referee lay on the floor for quite a while, there were lots of police for no obvious reason and our section briefly came alive because of something to do with a pigeon

The end of an era. The end of an aura. Bellend Sebastian, say it ain’t so? 😱

We're expecting mediocre CBs to play from the back with no support from the midfield. The latter is so bad they're playing every single ball backwards putting extra pressure on the back 4.

As I said in his Belgium international games he was good and way more reliable.

He was absolutely hammered in the Belgian press for being shit at the end of 2024.  He's had one good game against the Ukraine this year.

Belgian media felt that the defender was by no means perfect, but he did enough to impress.

DH Les Sports gave him a six and a half out of 10

HLN were also complimentary, suggesting that he did exactly what was required of him, adding: “Left defending to his companions at the back. Firm in the duels. Otherwise came under little pressure. Correct performance. No more, no less.”

All in all it was a relatively tidy performance from the defender.

Three goals, a clean sheet and a win is nothing to complain about at all.

As the local media suggested, there didn’t seem like there was an awful lot for Faes and his teammates to contend with but you can only beat what’s in front of you.

Wout Faes stats vs Ukraine
Minutes played – 90
Clearances – 6
Blocked shots – 0
Tackles – 0
Dribbled past -0

Seeing low numbers like zero for so many statistics can often indicate it was a bad performance but, in the defender’s case, it showed how little he had to do.

They're the complimentary views on his performance in the 3-0 win vs Ukraine.  He got mullered by the press for his performances in the 3 straight losses in the Nations League group.

You always know with Faes that if the ball is bouncing that there is a 99% chance he will absolutely fvck it up

He will either mis-judge it and not deal with it

Or if he does actually get his head on it the ball goes straight to the opposition
