After Newcastle scored 3 in the first 15 minutes he’d been on the pitch.

It’s the first time in 40 years of following City, that I’ve ever seen us do this to our own keeper.

You could see he was dreading it every time it went for a goal kick. Absolutely broken.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the guy needs an inquest into match fixing over his entire stint at City!

At the end of the season there were some player event nights including quizzes, games, cinema and a formal dance party. He made the quiz night, he was around for the darts session, he saw the film  but he didn't catch the ball.

And he still started V Wolves 😂☠️

Probably the single worst decision I’ve seen a City manager make.

You thought we'd get Europe? At that time?

Before that run of fixtures (beating Wolves, West Ham, Everton and one other) we were rooted to the bottom of the table (or at least bottom 3). How did you think we'd get Europe?

Including West Ham, we took 16 points out of 23, Rodger’s was even asked in an interview if we could get it after that game.

At the West Ham game, after all the players/ staff had gone in, Rodger’s came back out and up to our fans for the first time in many games and was given a huge ovation from everyone. We were only on the way up then, what happened next nobody was predicting.

But the signs of how bad we were getting under Rodgers were there before that run of form...

Just because Rodgers says we could get to Europe doesn't make it true lol

'we were only on the up then'. Hmm, not fully!

Wonder where he'll go next. Wrexham probably won't have him, maybe Charlton as a 2nd keeper?

Or maybe go to Cardiff now they're league 1

The amount of people who were happy with Kasper going and Ward being our number 1 going into that 22/23 season should not be forgotten, it was not a controversial move at the time. Last game of the season prior v Watford he was class

Class is a bit of a stretch he had nothing to do against already relegated Watford. People were hopeful he’d be better at claiming crosses and commanding corners than Kasper and put an end to our horrible set piece record, and we went 1-0 down within 10 mins from a corner. I think people realised he wouldn’t be as good as Kasper but with game time could be capable but we really didn’t realise how bad he’d be. I also think people were thinking it’d save 100k a week for a declining kasper who wasn’t at his imperious best in the last couple of seasons, but we’d have stayed up comfortably had he stayed

I was at the Chelsea game where he stared at the ball going over his head (we sat in stunned silence), and the Wolves game where we starting singing 'what the f*****g hell was that' when he was lying on the floor.  I even stopped a fight between 2 guys in front of me that game - Ward had triggered something in them that i bet they had never experienced before or will again.

There is something special about him.

I do think however, my favourite moment is the Newcastle game. Was watching on a dodgy stream that had cut out, then returned with a pixelated mess of someone warming up on the touchline only for it to slowly reveal the true horror of what was happening. My son turned to me and said 'Don't worry Dad - this is his chance and i trust him'.

Then minutes later my son is screaming 'what is he doing anywhere near that pitch. Loser!' He single handedly sapped any confidence out of us this season and we never recovered.

One other moment. Last season we waiting for autographs after a game and Ward was one of the players signing. One kid said to him 'you are my favourite 3rd choice keeper'. I am sure Ward deep down is happy that he had the last laugh.

I’ve been doing the sums on Ward and it is simply baffling to the point of negligence. We paid £12.5m and he’s been at the club for 7 seasons. If he’s been on £40k for that length of time, which may be a reasonable estimate (?), he’s earned £14.5m. That’s a total outlay of £27m.

He’s made 29 appearances over 7 seasons, and we’re getting close to a financial outlay of £1m per game.

It has to be pound for pound one of the worst pieces of business in the history of football.

My favourite moment was when in a state of delusion I thought he could ‘do a job’ and should be given a chance when Kasper left, mostly based on appearances against lower league teams in the cup and games for Wales against mostly inferior teams.

Yeah I want to apologise for my part in this too. Rarely been this wrong about a player since I thought Alan Maybury could "do a job" for us.

Wasn't that Chelsea effectively paid for the Joao Felix loan last season. And we all laughed at them.

Honestly the Wolves goal where it trickled in was the first time I've been so angry at a match I felt like belting the person next to me. If it wasn't match fixing then it was the worst piece of goalkeeping since Kevin Pressmsn against Preston where their keeper scored. He was a different level of shit

the best and funniest thread i've seen on here for some time....some very funny contributions!

Im beginning to think maybe we should keep the guy as this is the only thing that's brought any joy to me this season......what will we do without "the king of comedy"???

I don't remember Danny Ward actually making any absolutely horrendous blunders ... like punching the ball into his own net.

He just never seemed to save anything.    Which as a goalkeeper, is obviously a big problem.
