It’s been fascinating to discover Americans don’t know how tourettes works

It's been an absolute shambles of a response from them. I think BBC and Brits have handled it better. But don't forget they're quite far behind on disability awareness and support.

They don't care, everything is superseded by their neuroses over race.

I actually think it highlights how good of a job John Davidson has done to highlight Tourette's in the UK. I think most people have seen or heard from him through various clips of documentaries.

It's an awful thing to happen for everyone involved last night but all it has done is highlight the lack of understanding of Tourette's and Coprolalia.

Report into the Hindu and Muslim unrest.

Makes depressing reading, looking into the events in East Leicester in 2022.

The report concluded: "The 2022 violence in Leicester revealed the fragility of inter-community relations, the limits of the city's long-celebrated multicultural framework, and several institutional failures.

Only a matter of time before something similar happens again?

Nah, it's all a brilliant melting pot, everyone gets on, multiculturalism works, and diversity is a strength. Not sure why you'd even suggest such a thing happening again. It was clearly a one off before caused by right wing extremism and white privilege.

And, of course, segregation along demographic lines, the various caste and class systems, and the institutionalised acts of cruelty used to enforce them, were so very much better at creating a better world where so many less people suffered.

.... right? :D

I mean all of this was fuelled by right wing extremism, mainly the Hindustan and conservative sects of the Muslim community.

Exactly. And Trump and Farage too.

Hey, you have no right to have a go at caste systems. All cultures are equal remember. So you need to celebrate that caste system and its cruel enforcement.

And thus we arrive at the paradox of tolerance that Popper so adriotly warned us all about.

Tolerance of cultures extends only so far as feelings of cultural superiority, and, most importantly, acting upon them. If that wasn't clear before, let it be clear now.

NB. Not sure how much standing there is about criticising someone's standpoint when ones own appears to allow for the most hideous acts because "human nature".

BBC have apologised for not editing the racial slur shouted by John Davidson at Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo.

It's caused a lot of damage and they really should have edited it. The clip does not look good and it appears to the uninformed that it's a hateful and targeted attack.

Hopefully Jordan and Lindo are able to acknowledge that the incident wasn't preconceived or with any malicious intent and we can all move on.

I wonder if Davidson will be invited to the Oscars. Judging by their reaction to this incident, I don't think Americans are ready for a similar outburst but it's very important that his story is told over there.

You seem to have conflated condoning and observation

Jesus Christ calm yourself. Leicester has been a cultural melting pot for decades before this occurred, fuelled by liars on both sides and I'd be amazed if right wing agitators aren't also pointed at in the full report. So communities living side by side fine, as we see in Leicester all the time, until agitators whip up problems.

I said it was right wing agitators? You need to turn your beep volume up chap.

Just been reading some of the public comments on the SEND plans by the government. Some people have no idea the obstacles that parents face when trying to get help. These ignorant types seem to think it's all about bad parents and naughty kids. Makes my blood boil.

It's true and I am, because it's also true that history tends to look rather dimly on those who looked by and said atrocities were unavoidable and therefore, rightly or wrongly, enabled them, as well as those who carried them out.

Claiming observers with no material power are enabling the actions of global elite is a take.

We're a country currently luxuriating in stupidity.

I saw a social media thread yesterday where somebody has worked all their life, lost their job, and now it's asking how to claim benefits. Somebody else jumped on them as they work for a living and don't ask for handouts. We're a country of people that hate people and would rather see our neighbours fail than get something we don't.

Well summed up I think.

Should the worst come to the worst, the ones who are left will do exactly that. They won't be discerning, so in order to help prevent that from happening I'm not sure we should be now.

Edit: of course, the claim of exhaustion/"i don't have the spoons to care about events outside my horizon" can apply, but I'm not sure how much sympathy there would be for that should the kak hit the fan.

I don't think the UK is too full of misanthropes, but they certainly seem to be louder these days.
