Tbh I don't think it is.

I think it's very simply a right we should all have.

Beyond that it's just a question of safeguards for those with limited mental capacity.

I don't think it could be simpler.

Exactly!!

Is it a bit tinfoil hat to suggest that it's rather suspicious that all of these people with an apparent axe to grind who get close enough to Trump have all the marksmanship skill of an Imperial Trooper targeting any one of the main characters in Star Wars?

Obviously the Threads algorithm is doing its work but this came AFTER a big uptick in chatter recently about how dodgy the 'FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT' shooting was.

The strangest thing about all that for me was the apparent lack of media curiosity about the guy that did it. I can picture him but I've not a clue what his name was. It was like 'Trump's been shot at and it was this nerdy looking guy who is now dead. Next up: Golden retriever in Wisconsin has learned to play the pianola'.

Maybe taking potshots at the president is now considered a normal thing to do in America, like getting your teeth done and saying things are socialism that aren't

Perhaps "an incident at a protest" would be more accurate framing?

Trouble is it doesn't look like there was a protest. It was 6 people driving a van into a gate.

Considering what the company is, who is likely to have done such a thing, who owns the company, and that counter terrorism police are involved in the investigation. I dare say it should be labelled as a potential terror attack.

Maybe overreacting because it strikes close to home, but "protest" seems for lack of a better word, bleeeeeeerghhh.

Fair points well made.

Once again, it's a lament for the state of the world where chains of events end up with something like this happening.

Pretty worrying that the BBC are describing this as a protest tbh.

This has been going on for the past two years. It invariably starts with a van driving into the gates and being left there to deny access.

I'm not condoning it (my wife works nearby and it repeatedly inconveniences her), but it's hardly terrorism.

My gauge of terrorism would be quite simply, does it terrify you?

Who was the shooter, Patson Daka?

I thought Americans were supposed to be good at shooting.

Didn't they go in and smash all the ceilings off the clean rooms used to make the drones? Or is that a different factory?

Not sure what's worrying about a description. I'm not worried.

That’s not tin foil hat enough.

however, this might be…..

and sure enough, Trump tweets shortly after that this is evidence that the lawsuit needs to be dropped against the building of the ballroom at the White House

Hey guys… is this real? And who are IPSOS? Is their credibility only  self proclaimed?

.was kind of thinking  Labour’s  stance over the Iran conflict would have strengthened  their standing amongst the public

Yep, that seems pretty standard.

As well as it being yet another distraction from all the other bad stuff going on.

That seems to tally with most other polling right now, and IPSOS tend to be credible.

What it does mean though is that any GE done right now would he hung like a blue whale. Which means the fact that it's still three years away is probably a good thing.

With whom? Starmer is very much sticking to his “we don’t need to take sides between the US and Europe” schtick when it’s obvious to everyone that the old world order is dead and we do.

Those who want us to ween ourselves off American and get closer to Europe will all vote LibDems or Green as they are promising that. Those who think we should get closer to the US and abandon Europe will vote for Reform or Conservatives because they are promising that.

Starmer is at least publicly trying to pretend the post-WW2 order still exists and that the US is still on the side of NATO, Ukraine and Europe and play both sides. When it’s obvious to everyone else that that world no longer exists and we *do* need to pick a side to align ourselves with as the world devolves into pre-WW1 military-economic alliance blocks.

This fella didn’t make it past the foyer and metal detectors. He only got that far cos he was a guest at the hotel.

Those accused will likely be acquitted of any serious charges.

what they need to be concerned about is if elbit decide to sue them in civil courts for damages. I think this will become the deterrent moving forwards because juries are not likely to convict on anything apart from lightweight charges which won’t carry a custodial sentence.

Can’t remember who pushed Bennett as the next possible isr pm (I challenged that).  However, you were right. Lapid has announced that he will run on a single list with Bennett. (Who will lead ).

doesn’t seem to be any non right wing options who have a hope of any representation in the next govt.  Feels a bit like Hungary in that respect.

yes, and in fairness he did shoot an officer but they were wearing a bullet proof vest, I believe…

holding this kind of event at a location the public can attend is foolishness of the highest order, however it  unfortunately does add credibility to Trumps desire to build that expensive ballroom

That lack of overall actual threat is all the more reason to suspect something, then.
