I personally won't rest until Longslade is knocked down, call it "Cheddars Academy" all you like a tip is a tip

It almost has been to be honest.

Most of what was Longslade to us has been bulldozed.

Change your wifi password so your fridge doesn't turn itself off or its warm champers for you!

Thanks. I'll change it from *****fridge to *****fridgidaire. Those models are so outdated that no bot would make a link.

Sounds like not only was the execution a mess the emergency phone calls were too .

Maybe unsurprisingly the emergency services thought it was a hoax .

When you listen to/read the transcript this is entirely possible. The information the caller was giving was pretty vague and the call handler was struggling to make sense of it.

Many of those are offered scholarships to get them in as it's boosts the profile of the school.

There are more than 10 lcfc youth players at Radcliffe and at least 2 at repton paid for by the club.

I doubt they are scholarships, King Power will be paying.

Yes, the others will be, the athletics, cricketers etc.

There was concern that the relegation was going to cost the local private schools, I'm not sure if it has or not.

Is that because they have smaller classes, the best paid, so probably better teachers, better facilities. I'm sure that must have an impact on the level of success.

Not necessarily. We have close friends who have two adopted daughters, sisters by birth, now grown adults, who both went to Princethorpe private school. One is now a successful high end property negotiator in London, engaged to a trainee London banker, making his way in the section. The other was an unmarried mother to a child that she struggled to care for and has been on benefits. Fortunately she married the child's father and it seems to be going well and they live a pretty mundane but normal life, as most of us do.

Not everything is as you'd expect.

No, but everyone is an individual. You still get people with extremely privileged backgrounds who still manage to make a pig's ear of it.

As a fellow survivor of that s**thole I'd forgotten about that weird gravel pitch.

Ha #metoo! Playing football on there was always interesting. Don't be a goalkeeper.

Wonder if the 'ice house' is still there?

I think it’s listed so very likely. Wasn’t there a rumour of a tunnel running from there all the way to the church in Wanlip with the remains of a WWII German soldier stuck down there?

I discovered a few years ago that Longslade was built on the site of an Anglo Saxon burial ground. Which explains a lot I reckon.

Fellow Longsladers, I salute you in surviving there for at least 2 years of your life. Some of my mates were sad and stayed for 6th form, I got out as soon as I could.

Ah dammit. I had a good opportunity to do some light trespassing when my kid was at an event a couple of years ago at the Tara Palmer-Tompkinson centre as I so hilariously refer to it, which I didn't take.

It all looked a lot smaller than I remembered

To be fair I rather enjoyed my two years at the sixth form. Just as well really as the two prior to that were probably the most unenjoyable of my life.
