Milan Mandaric has plan to rescue crisis club before it is 'destroyed' by current owner

Mandaric was happy enough to sell to Chansiri.. Another one of football's fraudsters..

I think it's probably unrealistic to expect owners to sell to 'good' owners. Selling a club is difficult and if you have a buyer lined up you sell.

Mandaric does have a particularly rotten record though. Funny jumpscare on his wiki page

United States

Around the same time he had begun using his money to invest in football, Mandarić's passion since childhood (as a young man he had played for Novi Sad). He set up firstly F.C. Lika, then San Jose Earthquakes which played in the United States' first professional league. In 1978, he purchased a North American Soccer League franchise called the Connecticut Bicentennials and moved them to Oakland, California, to play as the Stompers. After one year in the East Bay, the team was moved to Edmonton, Alberta, to become the Drillers.[2]

Europe

Sceptical about the future of the sport in the U.S., Mandarić looked to European football, initially taking a stake in Belgian team Standard Liège before taking outright ownership of Belgian club R. Charleroi S.C., then French side OGC Nice. Under his ownership the latter club won the 1996–97 Coupe de France but they were also relegated from the French top division.[2]

Portsmouth

In 1998, Mandarić sold Nice and took over English club Portsmouth in May 1999, to whom he had been introduced by ex-player Preki.

You Sheff Weds are a big club. They’ve had some real shit for what feels like a long time.

are they though? They haven’t had an average attendance of 30k plus since the mid 1960s.

No doubt they’ve been fcuked about with though

What terrifies me most about Top selling to be honest. It could get a lot worse, I do think some on here don't appreciate that there aren't actually that many "good" owners at all in football.

Top is mostly just one Director of Football appointment away from being an OK owner.

But the fact that he has been blind to just that, and has been for god knows how many years just proves what an incompetent 'bell of the proverbial end' he really is

And there lies the conundrum!

Oh stop being so serious.

Years of moderating this mess, I think @davieG has earned the right to have a harmless bit of trolling during an extremely quiet period of the off-season.

And it's obviously relevant news to us, being our former owner.

What's the point of having separate sections? Just might as well have a free for all to post anything anywhere.

I'd say CEO and a DOF.

But as someone on here said the other day Top has the last say in everything.

So if that is true it won't matter who he employs nothing will change.

Milan Mandaric - The best owner LCFC have had just what we need now promised to get us out of the Championship. Which he did unfortunately in the wrong direction as he took  us down to the 3rd tier for the first time in our history meaning we were no longer part of an elite group of Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur. having never been below tier 3.

I think he's well and truly embedded in the history of LCFC.

Should stick it in the 'Ex-owners - they used to own us' thread

Better still "They Got Us Relegated thread" - that would be busy and extensive.

Dunno man. They are a historic club, no doubt about it, but haven't been top flight since 2000 and spent a good chunk of that time in the third division.

Without a doubt and I don't begrudge that, but Mandaric repeatedly parroted on in the media about how he'd only ever sell to the right person, he clearly doesn't give a shit

The thing about 'good' owners is that they have a nack for finding really strong football people to run it for them.

Does anyone really think that the Saudi royals are football experts? The sheikhs of the UAE? They aren't, they just know how to do recruitment at the top level and are ruthless when they start to fail.

Nobody was calling for Rudkin's head in 2020 or 2021 when we were playing sumptuous football, winning trophies and frequently playing in Europe. The main difference is that the Saudis and Emiratis would've binned him off in 2022.
