This is such a silly attitude to have

Just because the manager is more qualified to have the job it doesn't mean EVERY single decision is going to be perfect

Of course there will be occasions where they make mistakes and regular fans will actually know better

I could have told anyone that Hoijlund would be a terrible signing for Manchester United, it's not deluded to think there are occasions where you would know better than the professionals because there are countless examples of them making very obviously bad decisions

Are you saying that if he starts playing a 6-3-1 with Faes up front then you will blindly back him just because he knows better?

It's a fair point. In my time there have been plenty of times when managers made decisions which looked bad and turned out to be bad. When most fans think something is a bad idea, it quite often turns out to be.

I think of Pleat's evident high estimation of players like North, Spearing and Reid. Little bringing in multiple players from Darlington, or playing Ormondroyd in the CF position. Taylor's insistence on playing Lewis and Lee Marshall. Bassett's initial refusal to play Piper. Levein flooding the squad with SPL players, after saying he felt that that was a much higher level than the English second tier. Allen bringing in a host of players - Casino Jimmy, Sergio Hellings, Kaibi - who'd been pushed on him by agents, and who had seldom played a game at any competitive level. Most of Holloway's decision-making. Ranieri trying to play Amartey as a Kante replacement. Puel dropping Vardy and opting for a Mendy-Choudhury midfield. Most of the Rodgers/Congerton-era signings (when fans had pointed out well in advance that the latter's recruitment record was awful). Cooper picking Reid over Fatawu. Ruud picking Ward without knowing the history. The list goes on.

I'll wait before I lay into Cifuentes for building his side around Vestergard and either Okoli or Faes over Nelson, simply because that hasn't happened yet, and I'm sure there are loads of good reasons for those decisions in the short-term. I mean, they scored the goals on Sunday, so I'm sure he could justify their selection/introduction on that alone. But I think it could be a big mistake if this continues in the long-term, not least because we've already seen what happens when a side with a limited budget builds its team in the second tier around players who aren't good enough, and never will be, at PL level.

These frustrations among fans often occur when a new manager wants to start afresh and give everyone a fair crack of the whip. It may be a fresh start for him, but you can't expect fans to forget everything they've learnt from the past. So you get people booing Faes, which I wouldn't have done and think is a bit silly when he's coming onto the pitch, but is also people's way of saying 'hey, we've had three years of this cretin, and enough is enough'. It might not seem very nice and I don't think the routine excuses that 'I pay my entrance fee, I can do what I want' or 'he's paid millions for being crap, he doesn't deserve any sympathy' really cut it... but it's also inevitable. If you play individuals who have been first choice among successive managers despite being very bad for the club, fans will feel the need to let any new and apparently unwitting manager know.

We could probably do without Palace selling Guehi. I mentioned Bournemouth before but to be fair, their MO is more likely to be young replacements from overseas markets.

Palace though have had a lot of success with picking young players from the Championship but also young English players generally, so they might see an opportunity if they lose Guehi.

They could always pick up a Belgian international at a cut price instead!

We can hope lol! The fact he is linked with nobody shows it is only a certain section of Leicester fans plus only managers we seem to have that rate him!

Issue with manager churn is that the come in and don't understand the history of players... Nelson has been around the first team for 5 years, and was a first choice championship CB last season (unfortunately had his 4 month injury layoff).  Nelson has to play as many games as possible this season (not just cup games) and if Cifuentes is going to stick with the other 3 he needs to get a loan. At the end of this season Vestergaard will go on a free and if we go up Nelson will "not have experience" so won't get games that season either. Why would he re-sign and not ride out the last season to walk away on a free. Leicester need to give him/get him experience at championship level this season to either use him or give him value to sell.

Not sure what's happened with Braybrooke but his career as taken a wrong turn since his injury (injury, bad loan...). This was a guy who captained England youth sides. Maybe all he needs is a good confidence boosting loan or maybe he reached his ceiling.

Alves seems to have dropped behind Monga and with others in front of him he needs a decent loan too. One of the issues I have with Alves his end product which isn't great... A good loan will help.

Main issue with loans are that Leicester don't seek loans so unless agents promote their players for loans or a club comes in they won't get one.

I fear that the younger crop of players will see what is happening to those and not sign a pro contract, simply move on.

He’s having an absolute nightmare at the moment against Huddlesfield.

1 x Stonewall penalty not given

Misplaced passes

Intercepted

If we want to get promoted, he’s not ready.

He’d be better going back out on loan.

Cue the extreme views from both sides...

I think he is probably our 3rd best CB currently, but has potential to be a lot better.

Not having a good game, and Faes and Vesty should be starting in the league for now.

Sell Okoli and bring in a 4th choice on loan, with Harry Souttar due back around Christmas to cover injuries/form dips

I’d be on board with this.

In principle we could drop Choudhury into a centre back or play Kristiansen in that slot if he’s still here.

Don’t think he could have been any worse if he tried.

He's an inexperienced kid that's still developing. He's not the second coming of Maldini and at the same time, writing him off as abysmal is ridiculous.

Why are some of you so desperate to rejoice in a kid, one of our graduates, having a poor game?

What idiot thought he should be captain this season?……..me.

Will improve with an experienced cb with him. Shame the ones we have are shit.

You can’t seriously be blaming Faes for Nelson’s game today??😂

Well if the ref had done his job properly it would've been a whole lot worse

I mean, he hasn’t bagged two own goals against Liverpool yet!

We have literally seen him play well enough in a promoted side before

Huh???

I’ve not written him off. I just said he’s having a mare.

he’s quite clearly got loads of potential and should be given as much opportunity as possible.

bit of an over reaction!

I think it’s maybe a realistic view that he’s not of the same quality (understandably) of the more experienced, disliked players in Vestergaard and Faes.

That was clumsy though and was clearly a penalty.

Different levels of expectation I guess.

He won’t play ahead of Vestergaard and Faes realistically whilst they’re both still here.

So for his development he needs to be playing. He’s clearly got a higher ceiling in terms of ability.

He will get plenty of gametime for us this season
