Should start for us, if think he'll work his way in to the team very quickly. Was incredible at times for Oxford at this level and looked comfortable the year before for us.

He's classy on the ball, quick, there's not much weakness. We need to tie him down to a new deal, as next summer he'll only have a year left.

get the first 4-5 games out the way and the frenetic pace they are played at, and he’ll be a regular starter surely after that. just a bit of experience needed at the start of the season in an important position.

Starting pairing has to be Okoli and Nelson. It’s so clear.

Managers are a strange breed as often they don't seem to see the obvious.

I think it'll probably end up with this pair

Let’s say it ends up being Vestergaard and Okoli next Sunday though, Nelson has more experience in the Championship than Okoli? Obviously I’d rather it be a pairing of Okoli and Nelson.

I just worry that it will take a lot of balls from the manager to leave both the high paid Faes and Vestergaard out the side. Is Marti going to be that brave?

He was poor when he came lln, but certainly grew into the game, what he played of it.

Was he? A ball flicked off his hand, does that constitute being poor?

No,  the fact he moved his hand toward the ball suggests he was concerned about giving away a chance soon after coming on. He looked a little nervous in a couple of other challenges in the first few minutes, but as I said he grew into the game. I still think he will be our best CB with a run of games.

Make no mistake about it Nelson and Okoli with a revamped midfield duo would be the spine of a premier league team potentially. Just don’t think we’ll get that midfield sorted this season

The midfield is the main concern.  They can’t defend and they can’t or even attempt to help the attack. Just like last season, and the previous relegation season.

Fingers crossed they’re contracts are all finished bar skipp so we can see some heavy changes.

Nelson as captain 🙏

As the game went on I actually thought they were alright. Soumare rarely gives the ball away and is solid when he has it. His Achilles heel is his awareness of what is going on behind him, but, Skipp seems to cover for that pretty well.

I actually think that’s not a bad partnership at this level, granted in the PL its bobbins, but there won’t be much better at this level.

Fatigue has kicked in along with the cope that Soumare and Skipp will be alright at this level because they are the best we have.  Nothing can convince me that Soumare will be anything but a passenger,

doing as little as possible.  The problem is people have to cover for him not doing the basics, that catches his partner in midfield out and catches the defence out. He should never have played for the club again after the Everton game where he ducked the header and then position himself behind the player.  A lot of our problems come from zero press and awareness in midfield. That makes Bilal do more of the dirty boring work.

Back to Nelson.  Hopefully he can replace JV who again showed why he is useless.  Pisses about and then puts others under pressure. A donkey who continually gets too high up the pitch but can’t run back.  In him and VK, we have the weakest Dane’s to ever invade England.

He’s really has got all the attributes to be a top CB; good size, bit of pace, calm under pressure, good with both feet. Will undoubtedly make some mistakes and some strikers will get the better of him, but I’m as excited about him this season as any player.

Contract till 2027, probably needs looking at as a priority

Yeah it does. Think there were some hesitance when he last signed a new deal as he'd been tipped for first team football with us for a few years and hadn't been given a chance. We need to build our team around him and prove he is the future of this club, if so I think he'll sign a new long term deal as he's going to the very top and will reach it by playing regularly.

The midfield is definitely a conundrum but what’s the answer? Because I’m wary about Winks too, because he doesn’t seem to be at the races either…. And I can’t see us signing anyone in that position.
