Stolarczyk needs game time .... and a settled back four in front of him for the first 6-8 games, it midfield and attack that needs tinkering with until we find a good balance and threat

So we should play the kids. Only we shouldn't because they will get cup tied. And some might go out on loan.

Don't understand the cup tied comment. Its hardly like any club a player would go to would really care about a long Carabou campaign. Surely this is a game where Sammy could get his development back on track?

Exactly, any team they’re likely to go out on loan to is either already out or got one or two more games in the competition at the very most.

FWIW, my team:

Begovic

Hamza (C)

Nelson

Okoli

Aluko

Winks

Page

Monga

Bilal

Mavididi

Daka

Subs: Basour, Coulibaly, Faes, Skipp, Soumare, McAteer, Fatawu, Ayew, Alves

Not remotely bothered about cup-tieing any potential loan outs or risking an injury to a likely departee.

Anyway to watch this? I know it won't be televised, but any subscription services like iFollow or FoxesPlayer or whatever?

Hoping Page and Aluko start over winks and Thomas

This is the lowest priority game we will have. Simply have to give them a run out

I don’t really care about the rest of the line up but I hope we see Aluko, Page & Alves with maybe Evans on the bench.

Unsure on what’s best with Monga. I’m sure he’ll feature at some point.

Forgot to mention Nelson of course!

Monga has to start to get a full debut plus if he rips it up we can take him off after 60 minutes - need to give the lad a proper run. He needs careful management as Alves was over hyped and his injury has not helped his development - otherwise I would go stronger as he can learn more about them and with 5 subs it can still be managed - we need to get into a habit of winning and also he will know which are likely to leave !

Over Bilal and Justin - both likely to leave - I would drop Skipp too but maybe Hamza could play as he must offer more

The system for the back 5 will be more or less the same whatever the personnel involved, and Stol will have plenty of time with all of them in training. It's not like he's our 3rd choice/youth keeper - he was our number 1 for a good part of last season in the premier league.

We're fine to tinker. It'd be criminal not to give Nelson more involvement in a game like this (unless we're going to trust him enough to put him straight in against PNE). A who.e new back 4 for this game might be excessive, but we don't need to stick with Sunday's setup which was all over the place at times.

There's the upside to them being cup-tied meaning the club we're loaning them to aren't just taking them to fill the squad for when cup games roll round.

Sorry further in the chain it was a line up that was pretty bang on, just had skipp, winks and Thomas.

could easily add the two youngsters instead and play a full second string to spread the minutes around

I do agree but the fact we don’t have a back up keeper of a decent standard would mean it’s not worth the risk imo.

This is an ideal opportunity for our new manager to get his second win on board in the space of three days. These matches early in the season can be useful in terms of building momentum to take into the league campaign. Huddersfield have made a decent start to the season in League One, but both teams will inevitably make changes.

The system is fine but the players need to remain the same the defence needs to play as a unit and familiarity will make that stronger ... training and matches are two very different scenarios....

True ... but a good defensive unit should be able to protect any keeper behind them

Many good suggestions for the team tonight.

I only have one.

Keep Soumaré off the pitch.

I agree, we need him fresh as possible for 90+ mins on Saturday

Will be interesting to see who is involved or isn’t especially if the likes of JJ, BEK and Okoli are missing from the squad and that moves away are progressing

Or it could just be we are playing the kids and resting them cup game squads against lower league opposition mean nothing in the context of who’s staying and who’s going
