We are still a work in progress, let's remember Marti has only been here for about 2 months.  He made changes today bringing back important players who will improve the team in the long run & I'm sure further changes will be made, the reason certain players have not been selected previously is probably down to the uncertainty with the transfer window.

We still have weaknesses, Mavadidi is way out of form, Thomas offers nothing going forward & very weak at times defensively,, Soumare does not have the ability to play the killer pass & will probably never score, Ayew  would be an excellent option as sub. So I anticipate in the next few games to see more of Monga, Kristiansen, Ramsey & Julien.

No need to panic there are still 40 games to go & I like Marti & I'm sure we will keep improving

Why is our no9 Ayew taking corners?

Contractually he has to remain outside the opposition penalty area at all times unfortunately

"Coventry are a good side in this division. Not scoring against them isn't an indication that we won't score freely against the majority of teams in this division."          As of yet we have shown no signs of scoring freely against any side so that is slightly optimistic...

Slow start again. They just can't get going from minute 1. It's like waiting to counter punch.

Some really nice interplay though. I like the progress we are making.

We had a corner after 40 seconds

Surprised he got subbed. I thought contractually he had to play the full 90 and play in at least 2 positions each game. And take all the set pieces.

Thought the late tackle on Winks was incredibly similar to the tackle Ramsay was sent off for.

I said this at the time. It was exactly the same challenge. Difference being our lads didn’t run and crowd the ref.

Another workmanlike performance. Its taking me a while but the club have clearly accepted were a top half champ team

I do wonder if some fans watch the games with their eyes closed.

I see no reason why we cant win this. I dont think Marti has them playing how he wants, and i think the new players still need to bed in. He's making small tweaks each game and i really think he is trying to make us as defensively solid as he can.

When you look at all the other results so far this season, i think we are in with a shot. Will be tough, but i think in 10 games time we will be much closer to what the manager wants.

Special shout out to the chuckle brothers at the back. Faes did some great things then a few shocking moments as per. Vestergaard, lovely in possession at times then hopeless other times.

Need to actually have a bit of forward thinking in that area of the pitch as neither will serve us if we got promoted or will be here in a few years time. Nelson being overlooked is so depressing.

Do wonder how they compare, in fans eyes, with other CB pairings in the division. (I obviously cannot be arsed to check myself mind)

I’ve been saying Monga should be starting ahead of Mavididi…

Not sure he should too be honest, he is a 16 year old who is an immense talent but it’s a massive ask and expectation to put him as a starter this early in his career with the pressure of being one of our main men.

I think these 30 minutes cameo’s against tiring legs are the perfect way to grow his confidence and develop him, however fully expect to see him having more and more of an influence and game time as the season progresses.

People don’t seem to understand that he’s not the worst performer in the team, but he’s one the biggest problems in terms of team performance.

No pace, no physicality and doesn’t take up a natural position for a number nine. That affects the whole team.

Marti seems to love him. So he needs to find him a place somewhere else in the X1. If it were up to me he’d be on the bench as I think his biggest use is after 70 minutes when he can hold the ball up and fall over a bit

I like Ayew but if he’s playing he needs to be behind the striker.

Nelson was terrible in the Huddersfield league cup game.

I like Marti but im sticking to my 4th to 10th expectation. His QPR team were fun to watch.

If fatawu stays fit then hes too good for the bottom feeders.

I just don't think we look like a team that thinks they should be winning games. We're very safe in our style atm. Which to me doesnt scream winners.

I get the impression that not losing is the mindset rather than winning.

Its still early days we might find our rhythm but I've not seen much to say we will so far.

When did they actually get caught though? They didn’t, both to me were comfortable today. I just think some people just can’t help but be negative about certain players. I didn’t think they did much wrong, and can only recall a couple of passes each that weren’t great, hut that was it. Both were comfortable today and dealt with everything fine.

And, today was the first time we looked comfortable playing out from the back this season. Faes, Winks and Jannick all have to start.

You are missing my point. If you go back the Florentina i feel that is more like what he wants, but Florentina were earlier in their pre season and played out the back for a lot of the game. Most Championship teams will deep block or go man for man.

I think Marti had several issues that meant he needed to be pragmatic. The first was with personel and the transfer window, which is why Faes and Winks have only just started today (both looking good btw).  The second is how poor defensively we were last year, and we are much more solid now although clearly asking Luke Thomas to stay in his lane and take very few risks. The last is our situation up front, which is still not resolved. I think he sees Ayew as no more than a low risk option who is pretty good with the holding the ball. I imagine more mid term he will change that up.

You are going to see incremental changes to get where he wants. I think we judge out position then, but i bet you we won't be looking so safe at some point soon. I think when Ramsey and James are bedded in, and Winks is fully up to speed, and we have Caranza up top with Monga starting, we are going to have some fun for sure.

Yep he was. And unfortunately that 1 bad game and an untimely injury has undone a good pre season and an excellent stint in a struggling team at this level.
