I've found a very small golf ball sized one in my loft. I can hear the occasional noise from the room below like tiny scratching or movement every few minutes.

The loft is converted with floorboards and a light up there so I went up and sprayed a load of RAID around it but there was no activity and heard no noises while I was up there. Came back down and I can hear the noise again!

I'd imagine it'd be much bigger if it was a full active nest and there'd be much more noise of them coming and going. I've had a bees nest up there once which I had removed. I thought I filled around all the exposed brick inside with expanding foam but obviously there is still a small entrance point somewhere. The guy who came last time said they can even chew through the cement between the bricks if they want to.

Could it be an old disused one and the queen is still up there trying to bed down for the winter in the loft insulation now the weather is starting to get cooler? There is some thick fibre insulation right below it that I laid down where the floor beams were still exposed.

I could easily just knock the small nest into a zip lock bag and get rid of it if necessary. The noises are still disconcerting though.

Had it twice over the summer, both access via the front porch upper corner (opposite sides each time so definitely different nests). First one was purely outside but very busy and had to get pest removal in for that, they had some powder and it made them go mental for a couple of hours afterwards we couldn't leave the house and looking outside it was quite the scene! Few people walking by got a bit of a hurry on. A few weeks later discovered another one, this one in the earlier stages, however they were gaining access to the upstairs office and so this one was covered through home emergency insurance cover as they were classed as a hazard due to getting inside the property.

Could you be covered through any of this? The pest removal people we used for the first one that had to pay for was Pest Control - Border Control

Just bagged it up and disposed of it. Definitely an old dead one.

Still getting the occasional and definite  buzz from below though which is annoying. Don't think there's anything in the actual bedroom.

Thanks mate for the sensible post finally!

I had someone out before when I had a wasp nest on the outside eaves. He sprayed the powder which sticks to their feet and they carry it into the nest. I looked it up and it basically cuts them to pieces as it's really sharp on a microscopic level. That's why they go mental.

Also had a bees nest inside the loft which he carried away in a container.

Hopefully it's just one wasp/bee up there stuck in the insulation or something and it'll die soon. Can definitely hear it buzz for a split second every minute or so.

Is it up in that attic you keep a certain relative chained up?

You when you see your cousins at a family barbecue

When someone on here makes a claim about shagging their cousins they would then lie low for a few weeks. Not the bear the absolute menace

Wasp nest or your cousin?

Damn it, she's a human being and deserves to be addressed as such!

Lynx can and a lighter, cheapest pest control going 👀

Agreed. Not too expensive and it takes like 2 minutes and then Bob’s your uncle…. and also your Father-in-Law.

Sounds like your trying to change the subject from the cousin thing

Perhaps the two are related
