Sure but what was the combined value of his book and loyalty bonus? 

 

It's Betis, they've established their position in La Liga by scraping around in Europe's bargain bucket. I doubt they were offering more than 5-7m?

 

And they definitely wouldn't have been matching his wages, what obligation was on us to make up the difference?

Bournemouth were interested in the summer of 2023, would have allowed Maresca to buy a Striker he wanted.

I'm led to believe this is not the case and he has opted to do this. Hopefully he can now justify dropping some of these experienced players and point out he gave them ample opportunity but he is now focusing on player development longer term. I have a feeling he won't though as he is weak.

Of course, we couldn't have agreed a deal that made us physically worse off unless we took the view that getting rid of him and booking a few million loss less saving on his wages could be offset against the pure profit we made on the likes of McAteer and Ndidi etc.

 

History suggests we probably made the wrong decision just like we did with Iversen and even more recently Luke Thomas to Hoffenheim.

I completely agree, the RVN choice was so short-sighted. They didn't want to pay Corberan's release clause.

 

Corberan then went onto save Valencia from relegation.

We still bought Cannon at the end of the summer transfer window ( lol ).

Can we just fast forward to the part where Nigel Pearson feels his health is good enough for him to take over as interim before moving upstairs into the DOF role?

All hope for Marti is now gone after this comment about youth players. The only thing stopping him from playing players like Nelson/Aluko/Page more often right now is his own backbone.

He's going to have to do it again this season then lol

 

I never wanted Corberan anyway. His teams seem to struggle to score goals and I'm sure at that time WBA were drawing a lot of games.

Valencia haven't really backed him financially (sounds familiar lol) and they have ownership problems too.

 

Nevertheless, at minimum he would have been better than RVN.

If so this is very very disappointing. Personally I think there is more to this as a few of these have become visible in and around the 1st team and starting XI since the transfer window closed which still makes me feel it is more club led.

He's another yes man. The hierarchy at the club don't want anyone who will challenge them. 

 

I'm convinced this is why people like Schmeichel were bombed out.

I can answer that....nothing. He has nothing to lose. We aren't seeing ANYTHING from the team he picks, so he has to bring Nelson back into the fold, aluko and co! No one can tell me anything else because we can't be worse.
