“It’s always healthy to find this balance between not having a large squad because, in my opinion, that (having too many players) basically kills the opportunities for the academy players,” Cifuentes said last week.

“I have a feeling that there are some young players that are knocking on the door and I want to give them more space. It’s something we need to consider.”

is our manager aware he’s the guy that picks the squads?

Can you imagine being a young player who's been literally knocking on his door and reading this?

I got shot down when I said go for Dyche this shit wouldn’t have happened under him. We definitely wouldn’t be conceding first every game. Where’s all the fans that said let’s show some ambition and go for a young hungry manager now! He’s done nothing as a manager.

because he'd be a stupid appointment. like it or not, we've built a squad for possession football. That doesn't have to mean the sterile half back, passes to centre, out to wing, back to centre, centre holds it, holds it, holds it, that we play, there's incisive possession football designed to carve teams apart with quick passing. Our coaching can't manage the latter so we're at the former, but if you've built a squad for possession then it's easier to go former to latter than to retool to a wing play system like Dyche prefers

Is this a real quote?

Either he's being told what players to pick by Rudkin or he's just an idiot. Or it could be both.

I can think of at least 10 senior players that I would happily see leave to free up opportunities for youth players.

Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen, Thomas, Winks, Skipp, Soumare, Daka, Carranza, Ayew and Reid could all go tonight and it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference. if anything we'd improve yet we spent well over £100m on that lot.

There's sides above us in the league that have probably spent about that on transfer fees in their history.

Not hard to move 3 or 4 to the side and tell them they have no future and won't be involved with 1st team or not train at same time as 1st team, like Amorim did.

Soumare, Faes, Winks, VK. Let their agents find them somewhere to play from Jan.

I happen to agree the manager is under pressure to play certain players, I think if he was fired, the replacement would get the same instructions, focus on keep ball, and play specific players.

The thing is would any prospective manager come here, knowing that is what he will be told as soon as he is appointed or will the board lie to him again should Marti get the push...??

Do people actually believe what he says.  He is great at giving the public and fans what they want to hear.

He talks the talk for sure, but the guy is clueless and does nit have the balls to put this club straight and challenge the player fraternity

You could let Pep Guardiola have this team and the outcome would still be Leicester 0-2 Middlesbrough tomorrow night.

There's only so much a man can do with the squad of twats we have. Sacking Cifuentes will only result in the man baby signing the next flavour of the month manager who will be sacked in April.

Nothing changes until Aiyawatt gets serious and removes his love interest from the boardroom.

He's another yes man. The hierarchy at the club don't want anyone who will challenge them.

I'm convinced this is why people like Schmeichel were bombed out.

Yes yes yes!!

We will never get a Pearson, a Dyche or a Moyes, the chairman and the DoF want to be the top dogs, anyone who challenges them, they're happy to bomb out. If we sack him it'll be Russell Martin or some out of work dud manager next who's grateful to have a job and try to prove themselves.

He's not being forced to not pick Nelson, or give Evans/Aluko a chance.

Not saying they solve our problems but would be a good idea just to give it a go for fans to see what the alternative is to the current shit.

I’m in no way advocating for a new manager yet as there’s little point under this ownership

However, any time we’ve sacked a manager I’ve scoffed at the thought of MoN coming back. After seeing Celtics transformation though, I’d definitely have him back in the near future should Martí leave

Well hang on.  That "Transformation" is an extra time win against a dogshit Rangers side who had a man sent off in the first half.

And 4 goals midweek

He’s unleashed the Rodgers shackles very well in a very short time.

Yes i'd love to see them be given a chance and yes they might prove to be better than what is currently being served up... but the fact fans are desperate for the manager to turn to the academy just shows how dismal the squad is and the only two people who are at fault for that are Jon Rudkin and Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn.

Pep maybe not but this guy:nigel:maybe this guy., :brendan:.  Dyche, Sam Allardice and Avram Grant are a few, no nonesense type managers to sort this shite oit.

lol

There's a name I haven't thought of in a while. Last managed a club in 2012...!

I don't think Cifuentes is the issue but I also don't know if he's the solution to our problems.

If they could work together I'd utterly love whoever is in charge to work with Nigel Pearson as Director of Football and Wes Morgan as a coach.

The team itself lacks talent & drive ... It's honestly a waste of time & money to change managers because no one is getting much out of this group of players

I agree but it's not going to happen overnight and won't happen at all while Aiyawatt and Rudkin are here.

Dyche a stupid appointment give over. We wouldn’t be in this position with him, not a chance.

Lets just say those instructions come directly from the Top…
