I ventured into Leicester yesterday morning to take my daughter for a hospital checkup.

I was really surprised just how many of these were being risen about at a decent speed, considering they’re classified as illegal to ride on pavements.

People weaving in and out of the general public,

hoping between roads and pavement.

Also, the number of people that nearly got hit by them!

Also, is it a must for UberEat Drivers in the city?

Why don’t the police do anything? I saw one person go by a couple of police officers and they basically ignored it lol

They have a purpose but do not belong on sidewalks and most certainly should have some form of licensing and insurance given they can cause serious injury to others.

I see so many of these just zooming by, not giving a fook and almost hitting pedestrians.

Sure, there are sensible drivers but it's wild wild west out there and cvnts ruin it for everyone ad usual.

Not to mention the battery fires that can happen with these. Happened to my colleagues neighbour. Battery exploded and spread to 2 other houses. Luckily it was outside/external based fire and only damaged lawns, fences, brick and siding.

Signed,

Does Leicester have lots of Brazilian delivery drivers? Loads here in bucks. Are the all working illegally?  Don't seem to speak a word of English either.

If they are illegal then like most things need nipping in the bud by Police before becoming a more serious and widespread issue. Of course you then get into the resources or lack of that the Police have.

Still look like dorks though.

No self-respecting nerd would wear a puffer jacket. As a nerd, whose friends are largely nerds, the underpinning definition of a nerd is a craving for rules, hence a liking for video and board games and created worlds where adherence to the rules of that world is non negotiable. As a result, most nerds are law abiding to a pinpoint degree.

Dorks however....

Don't ever associate dorks with nerds, please!

Cannot stand the things, they're a menace and they're almost exclusively used by people who have no regards for the rules that come with using them. Paris has banned them and it was honestly so pleasant being in a city and not having to navigate around them. Here in Berlin you have a lot of teenagers taking the piss on them with an app that basically lets you ride for free. A friend of mine is in a wheelchair and has regular problems getting into U-bahn and S-bahn stations because people have just abandoned them at the entrance.

Government sanctioned a couple of companies to leave their scooters lying around for all to hire... Hop on hop off type of thing.  The schemes have been abused by many riders and it has created an unnecessarily dangerous environment for other road users.  The scheme has failed as far as I'm concerned but it is further aggravated by private e-scooters that don't have the speed limiters or the lights that the government approved ones do.  Frankly, it's a disgrace that you can walk into a reputable shop (like Currys) where they are all lined up ready to take away for a few hundred pounds.  It's written in the small print of the small print on the label that these are for use on private land only and I'd bet that the sales staff don't point that out.

They all need binning.

E-bikes are even worse.

I'm trying to think of a witty response involving delivering a Brazilian.
