We know Frank has been there as a player and will be all “keep calm continue as we have been” etc but as a manager when your not actually kicking a ball it will do something to him on the sidelines, it must do, so I expect him to be all over his area today pacing like a tiger and maybe make decisions he wouldn’t normally. As for the players they haven’t been there & will just see 3pts difference, they will come out all guns blazing it will be important we don’t concede in that 1st 10-15mins. But Ooh man if we score 1st or simply keep it level the longer it goes on they will panic and start to make mistakes. Which then brings us to how should we play it, match the urgency they will have at the start, keep compact and just soak up pressure before going for it later in the game, keep compact the whole game & just look for counter attacks, or forget trying to to 2nd guess what they will plan and just play our normal game? I know replies will be sarcastic “we’ll be 3 down in 15mins if we play our normal game” but you get what I’m asking, given we need the points & the wobbly position they now found themselves in after being 10 ahead or what ever it was, how would our armchair managers play it? 1

Says it all, regardless of the fact we have SEVEN times more major honours than them. Not even mentioning our European ventures compared to theirs.

Sampson Posted 17 January Posted 17 January (edited) I’m surprised people say they still see Derby as bigger rivals (referring to posts from the last page). That feels like it’s just repeated based on the club’s culture from 30 years ago, but hasn’t been genuinely true in years. It’s probably 20 years since the last time a game vs Derby felt like it actually had any bite to it. I get Forest games are important to a lot of fans and have more bite in the atmosphere etc. for sure, but games against Coventry have felt like they’ve had more importance and bite than games against Derby for about 20 years now. I mean that opening game 2 seasons ago felt like a proper derby match in the crowd, I haven’t been to a game vs Derby that didn’t really feel like just a normal game since the 00’s.
