Name me a winger better than Fatawu that is available for 30 million.

We're not shopping in the £30mill player market anymore.  You (hope to) use the money to strengthen multiple positions rather than like for like.

Thats even worse.

We've sold McAteer who was our only other right winger.

Now you want to sell Fatawu.

Leaves the club with no right wingers.

Then split the 30m and buy some shit winger that won't be half as good as Fatawu? Sorry but thats ridiculous.

So your assertion is that we spend £30mill on a replacement?

You don't see many players of that kind of fee going to struggling championship sides do you?

I mean that's what you do, we didn't sell Maguire for £80mill+ and then go out and sign an £80mill replacement.  Same as Fofana and others.  The idea that you sell a player and use the money to strengthen the side as a whole is far from ridiculous.  As said, JJ is costing £5mill, so what's ridiculous about it?

Now if you're saying you have no confidence that they'd spend the money wisely then that's a different argument, but the premise is sound.

Ideally you go Rak-Sakyi or someone like that, Monga can play right side so you have those two battling it out.

In a fantasy world maybe we get Dju so we get a CF to play with.  But that's a pipe dream.  That would be down to our position though rather than being short on a fee if we had £30mill to spend.

Thats subjective though and I'd actually say very untrue when it comes to Leicester City.

Every sale and their replacement has been getting worse and worse and worse.

You talk about Maguire and Fofana, who were their replacements? Exactly

Vardy? Exactly

Tielemans? Exactly

Maddison? Exactly

KDH? We brought in Bilal, but then got rid of Bilal lol

Why on earth would I want to continuously weaken the squad.

You can't operate like this unless you have a data driven model like Brighton and Brentford.

So the other option is you have to find ways around it like Villa and Forest.

Problem is we don't do either, we take the 3rd option which is sell for low sums and use the money to buy bullshit players for low transfer fees and then put them on high wages.

No its the same argument, because we have to bring it back to reality and understand we're in this position because of the decisions being made.

You're not going to get better quality for the sum you have proposed and especially not by splitting it around the squad.

30m is an awfully low sum and Rudkin has set your standards so low that you'd be willing to accept such a fee.

But the reality is we have Fatawu and we're a shit team.  The reality is if you sell Fatawu for £30mill+ you wouldn't be able to buy a direct replacement for that even if they were better because £30mill+ players don't join mid table championship sides.

If the acceptance is that we will continually get it wrong and continually regress then don't worry about it, eventually we'll end up propping up the football league as we get steadily worse.

There are a lot of shit decisions made when it comes to signing players, but there are also decisions like signing Fatawu himself in the first place, getting in Bilal, getting in JJ.  We tend to have made better decisions with Championship signings than when we were in the Premier League, so maybe there's a bit more hope there.

We could use £30mill to buy the next Fatawu, Mads Hermanssen and Jordan James.  All 3 costing us less than that £30mill combined.

Of course we could use it to buy another Skipp, Ayew and Coady.  But as it stands do you stick with the side now with our mercurial winger in a doggo side or hope to recruit the former rather than the latter examples?

Incidentally by the way, I never said I wanted him to go.

I can't trust this club's decision makers any longer. So any quality that we have left here I'd rather grapple onto with a tight fist unless the offer is too good to refuse.

30m is nowehere near a good offer. This is Saudi Arabia we're talking about, double the offer and we have a deal.

Our team is grim enough as it is, taking Fatawu out with James missing basically loses all of our spark and creativity. Not good if he goes.

Sounds good on Foxestalk in a fit of pique for internet points though

Probably be shot down for this but I'd try and re-sign Maswanhise as a replacement.

Has really kicked on since we released him and is only top form for Motherwell. 13 goals and 2 assists in 21 games, playing as a RW AND a striker and is still only 23. Reportedly available for £4m.

Maswanhise is doing really well, but he's playing in an absolute dogshit league where the only 2 teams in it have forgotten to turn up this season.  Very difficult to judge what level he's capable at.  Though I've said before we're fxxked for forwards come the summer, so could be a risk to take.

With Aribo coming (a left footed right winger), I guess that means Fatawu WILL be on his way (to Saudi?). Just hope we get a decent price.

Aribo and Fatawu are pretty different players. Box to box midfielder who can play right mid vs an out and out winger. Aribo looks more a James injury replacement.

Fatawu was but a 14m winger at one point and we were able to get him on loan with an option to buy for said amount…. Do I trust the club to

get lucky in finding said gem again? No…. But this is how we’ve got to operate now unfortunately

I would be all over this for £30m plus, the lads given up on us and it's getting to the point where he needs dropping, so move him on and use the money wisely, but again thats where the problem lies

This is how we should always have operated. Moving away from this model is one of the reasons we have ended up in this position
