In terms of experienced leaders, with high work rate, I would take Ben Pearson, should they decide to cancel his contract.

i work with a Stoke fans who reckons he is one of a few, that they may look to ‘let go’

He wouldnt be the most exciting signing but one who could guide whatever youngsters we have left!

Agreed would be a real good leader and battler in the midfield alongside Braybrooke and a decent role model, we certainly wouldn’t get bullied with him in the side.

I think a problem is, there are some players we have just broken. So even though ability wise, they would be more than good enough for League 1, they probably need to move on so that the player get a fresh chance elsewhere and we have someone new in.

Jakub is one of those for me. Clearly not a bad egg, tries but just lost confidence more and more as time went on. Fans lost confidence and only has a year left on his contract so it makes sense to cash in even though it’ll only be a very small amount.

Same applies to Nelson. The rest were either the actual kids who didn’t get much of a chance anyway like Page and Aluko or were senior players who all let everyone down massively and who I think we’d all be happy to see the back of any of them!

I can see that, maybe a completely fresh XI could be the way to go.

But point remains we need to get those two positions right - goalkeeper and striker. It's no coincidence our worst seasons have come when we've had poor players in either one or the other, if not both.

Kasey Palmer spent the second half of this season on loan at Luton, 8 goals in 20 appearances.

Luton player of the month 3 times in a row and league one player of the month once - this about our level now for a creative midfielder if Hull are up for loaning him out again

Abdul Abdulmalik. Pretty much every L1 club will be interested after today, if they werent already.

Type of signing Peterborough usually make.

But after hearing promising things about him, plus seeing some highlights of him today, I’m sold.

Sam Smith at Wrexham would be a good buy and probably available in our price range. Guess he’ll have a few suitors in the championship though

Given the lack of goal threat, would anyone take Paul Mullin?

Scored 4 goals in his last 29 games mate, I dont think he would be the answer - dont need another Daka!

Thoughts on Luka Jovanovic and Max Caputo @ACF

Also any other youngsters caught your eye in the A-League this season, as I see it’s been quite a hotbed for young players this season.

Should be a market for Leicester to target, Pompey have done it recently with Segicic for example.

Being a Melb City STH I’ve watched Max every week, he’s a strong, physical boy. Made his debut at 15 I think, and has been around the men’s team ever since.

At the moment he’s a poacher, every goal is a run behind or finishing a cross. He’s developing his hold up play quite well but he can go spells where he’s not involved. He wins his aerial duals, but won’t enough the ball again in the build up play - I’m sure the stats would say his chances created and touches overall would be very low. He also isn’t a volume shooter, but would a goal every second game striker.

Had a couple of injuries this year which was disappointing, as this was the year he was given the starting job. The team plays so much better with him up top, and he can finish. Melbourne City are very focused on developing their youth, Jordan Bos is the first of this group who made the move overseas and he’ll be in the Prem by the end of the year. His potential and talent was obvious to everyone watching.

Jovanovic is different. From what I’ve seen he’s much more involved in the play and drags defenders with him, much more likely to create chances. Goals per minute were better than Max if I remember correctly, but still all in the box (definitely last season) and he’ll take 3 shots per 90.

They’re both excellent young players, who I hope get the chance. I think the step to League 1 is possible for Max, but the sheer amount of extra games will be his issue, and the lack of involvement in the build up will polarise some. Jovanovic I’m less confident on, as his game is based on things which will be harder for him to do in League 1.

To me they both look more promising talents than I ever thought Mo Toure was, and he’s just torn it up for Norwich and likely to lead the Socceroos attack at the World Cup.

From a Melbourne City bias perspective, if we need a midfielder Zane Schreiber is probably my favourite at the moment, and Patrick Beach will likely be GK3 at the World Cup.

And as a reminder, A-league player will be available for less than a £1m. Cheap, English speaking, culturally similar, endurance wise they’re elite as we play football in Australian summer.

Watching him live notching a hat trick the other week, he seems to have it all.

Why can't we scout players like that these days?

(Yeah of course I know the answer to that question)

I was calling for Irankunda to be signed on this very forum WELL before he was signed to Bayern.

I’ve said that the ‘prodigious talents’ that were all flash would fail (Garang Kuol, Arzani, Tilio).

Bos after seeing him for like 2 weeks was clear as day, Herrington deserved more than a move to the MLS and he’ll prove that in the next 12 months, Segecic was an obvious one. Pompey signed players I probably didn’t rate that highly, and they’ve been fine.

All that to say I’m available to hire.

Thanks mate.

Jovanovic and Caputo both intrigued me as potential back-up striker options, finding at least one striker in that early 20 bracket would be sensible business imo.

For the league we’ll be in, plus the type of fees A-League players go for, targeting a league like that would also be sensible business, you’ve seen a fair few jump to England and Scotland in recent times.

With James McCarron coming in from Man City, with City Group ties to your team Melbourne City, hopefully he has some knowledge to Melbourne City, plus the A-League in general.

Probably wishful thinking though.

Are they better, or higher potential, than Evans/Hutchinson? Probably not. But they have senior minutes, against 30 year olds, something our youth don’t get! They’re forced to be exposed to tough football. And Melbourne City play CFG style, all the way through the academy. There are some good players coming through Australia and I’ll think people will be shocked.

If it was Max Caputo playing Serie B I think there’d be lots of calls about him.
