Long Eaton Fox Posted 27 July Posted 27 July If Faes Soutter and Nelson leave that should bring in 20m. Would any of that be available? Maybe Skipp for 5m?

We would be better off buying 3/4 of these (including probably Wareham) than spending it all on Ballard. 1

I have no idea, but I don't think we'll get more than 5 million for Nelson or Faes, so even if we did get 10 million for Souttar (which I don't think we will) then I think we'll be struggling. I'm also unsure how we'll replace them if the financial stuff that came out from Maguire is anything close to being accurate
Finnegan Posted 27 July Posted 27 July 10 minutes ago, Long Eaton Fox said: How much do you think? Soutter is around 10m I think. We're supposedly "holding on for" 10m for Souttar and absolutely nothing has happened all summer so that's not happening is it. Monaco could have bought Faes for about £5m and they're one of the few clubs that might actually be able to tempt him away wage wise because living there is a tax haven so you need a smaller wage to make a net gain. He's got a year left on his deal and nobody else wants him. And Nelson also has a year left, is an unproven kid that was average at best in the Championship last season and has allegedly told us he's not extending. On no planet are we getting a combined 20m for them all. 2
Long Eaton Fox Posted 27 July Posted 27 July Ok I'll rephrase that. How much do we think we will get and much much of that, if any, can we spend?

FosseSpark Posted 27 July Posted 27 July If we spend £0 pre season we will be in League Two this time next year and have to relaunch. A team of promising players who didn't show up as outliers on loan, in EFL Trophy or as aces in Prem 2/Reserves aren't going to tear up League One 4
LCFCJohn Posted 27 July Posted 27 July With the news leaked about the club for sale, and the information about the continued state of the clubs finances, it seems quite clear that there will be no fees spent on players this summer. Probably expect a couple more frees and loans and we will go with what we have…. 1
FOXYTALK Posted 27 July Posted 27 July Ideally we'd sell souttar for 8-9 mill and reinvest the money for Ballard. But we know how things work

They had high hopes for him at Goteborg but moved to Osters and started the new season very well. Would cost less than £1m in that league. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/linus-carlstrand/profil/spieler/1016056 Now up to 10 goals and 2 assists in 15 games. Looks an absolute specimen.

To be fair the prices we've apparently set for Nelson and Souttar cover most of that 20m. Whether anyone will actually pay is another question. 1

honeybradger Posted 28 July Posted 28 July I think after August Priske's struggles at Birmingham you have to seriously question when a player puts up numbers in Sweden. 10 goals in 15 looks good but it's at a level in the Swedish second tier that is probably equivalent to the National league or lower.

Scandinavian league have often translated very well in to English leagues. Just not the ones we sign 😂 1

Maybe they will perform next season once they have adjusted to moving leagues. 1
moore_94 Posted 28 July Posted 28 July Assuming we get McFarlane, Adebayo, and Cullen in now, time to start working on a winger or two GK - McCarthy, Jakub, Vieites, Bausor RB - Aluko, Joseph CB - Souttar, Nelson, Okoli, Faes LB - Thomas, McFarlane, Woyo MID - Braybrooke, Page, Skipp, Hamza, Neale AM / WING - Alves, Chaplin, Mavididi, Reid ST - Cullen, Adebayo, Otchere That doesn't even include Gray, Evans, Carr, and Hutchinson either - get them out on loan somewhere they can play every week ideally Then you just work on a 1 out 1 in policy for the centre backs and if someone like Skipp leaves No need to replace Jakub/Vieites or Woyo if they go 1 1

And for a manager who talks about running constantly, it's at odds with his philosophy and game model. McFarlane is supposedly very quick but it's the wingers and striker that bother me there. Cullen supposedly got beaten in the 100 metres at school by a kid in deck shoes. 1

Lots of running doesn’t necessarily require pace though does it, it’s stamina that you need to run a lot. 2
