They can only punish Chelsea based on the rules in place at the time.  PSR was not.

Haven't we been punished using rules that were not in place at the time?

There is some hypocrisy sure but the rules are such complex web that different punishments apply to seemingly similar.

I'm more concerned we just never even tried to abide by the rules, the new CEO basically confirmed it. The fact we can't even submit our accounts on time is a big problem, what the rules actually are immaterial at this point we just didn't think they'd apply to us. Paraphrasing but "Well we've finished in Europe two seasons in a row so we thought it would happen again" was a sublimely arrogant and complacent way of thinking. Don't forget we were relegated twice before we had any deductions.

Our owner did this to us, not any rules, the fact other clubs have things inconsistently applied just lets Top off the hook. The PL and EFL have looked like mugs but we've just never gotten to grips with our finances to the point we're gambling with the future of the club, PSR or FFP didn't do that, our beloved owner's incompetence and negligence did.

Agree our troubles are down to our leadership. But PL are scared of the big clubs they will only give them a smack on the wrist

With these long and historic issues they know they're multi-year court cases that progress glacially. With us, Everton, Forest etc they can be concluded much faster. But because all of this is so boring I just wish they'd hit Man City and Chelsea with -12 and we can move on with it, even if people didn't like it. It's so bloody boring.

It makes me so angry seeing Chelsea getting a £10 million fine today, for a historic financial breach.  No question of a points deduction.  The PL just save that for the smaller clubs.  No need to punish the big boys. £10 million is small change to Chelsea.

It's like fining you or me a tenner.

I would suggest Chelsea's offenses are far more serious than ours.

To get a £10 mill fine for illegal payments of £50 mill is an absolute joke.

The PL is corrupt and not fit for purpose.

£40m to the good, nice result for them.

Can we get a £100m illegal payment and pay a £20m fine?

Does anyone know when our appeal will be concluded is it before the end of the season?

They'll rescind it after we've been relegated by 5 pts and the League One season is 2-3 days in.

Somewhat off topic - I'm not a betting man, but was having a look at the odds after Pompey's defeat last night to see if those outside of our miserable club have changed their minds at all and noticed that Betfred are offering 66/1 for us to be relegated. I assume that's some sort of unusual offer/glitch? The other bookies tend to be around 11/8 (which still feels somewhat off).

This is not a PSR breach anyway, i'm not sure what you'd call it but it's a financial offence that in many other countries has led to relegations, let alone points deductions.

They just make stuff up as they go along.

The comparable case is Luton Town who were docked points for it. In the process with a combination of other financial issues putting them out of the Football League.

Tip for a non-betting man - those are the odds Oddschecker said Betfred were offering. That site is useful (esp. for general market states) but not real-time and yes, prone to picking up incorrect odds. You need to got to the Betfred site if you want the real odds.

Anyway, someone has lumped on that 66/1(!) and now it's no longer weighting the list, our true position is revealed...

Is that odds to be relegated or odds to survive? If it's relegation, Oxford being odds on is bizarre. At the moment they've got promotion form.

Bloody hell that sounds like a decent idea tbf, why can’t anyone at the football authorities actually do something that would protect clubs. No one legitimate should have an issue with that

There's your issue.

The EFL, Premier League and FA don't care if your club goes bust so long as you don't disrupt the status quo.

Oh yeah, we are no victim or martyr. Our behaviour has been pathetic for years.

But this is significantly worse than PSR breaches. Stefan Borson explains it really well.

We should do as a PL winner, but for some reason they won't allow us to join their club. I bet Man City get off with a token fine though, if football still exists then when they finally get around to it.

I just can’t be moved by what’s happened to other clubs - so what if Chelsea were docked 12 points, if anything that helps Top’s position, “see, everybody is getting deductions”.

Odd logic. Rather it illustrates the football authorities are not fit for purpose

PL does what the big clubs say

I think the PL and EFL are in for a torrid time as its going to cause anarchy. They dont want to punish the big clubs as they are scared of the super league talks rearing their head again but what happens if the other 86 club's decide to tell them to get fcked and we're not following your corrupt rules?
