This is the lowest I've felt as a Leicester fan and I am convinced that we've not hit rock bottom yet. However, there is hope that we will one day return to some level of respectability under a different ownership. I just wanted to give everyone a bit of optimism.

Just a few relatively recent examples:

- Seven or eight years ago Sunderland suffered back-to-back relegations and then went onto spend three seasons in league 1. They are now 11th in the premier league as a newly promoted team and the future looks bright.

- Just four years ago, Derby County nearly went out of existence and are now knocking on the door of the play-offs.

- Portsmouth plummeted down the leagues and very nearly went out of existence and despite taking a while to come back, are now likely to stay up again in the championship.

- Coventry plummeted down the leagues, ended up playing home games in Northampton and Birmingham and could now get promoted  to premier league (I know this makes it more painful).

All of these clubs went through turmoil, were taken over and have eventually come out the other side.

In the meantime the objective should be clear...Do everything we can to get the current ownership gone.

Love a bit of positivity in the face of adversity

Or the obvious but biggest of the lot. We went down to the 3rd tier of football for the first time in the clubs history and yet within a few years won the Premier League, the FA cup, the Charity Shield and reach the quarter finals of the Champions League. Things are bad (ok - things are REALLy bad) but they can turn around. I believe King Powers time is up at the club - everything runs its course in time -  and I believe change is necessary to excise what seems to be a rotten core that runs through the club at the moment. That said, I fully recognise that all the positives in the first part of this post were done under their tenure and I got to enjoy all of them with multiple generations of my family. I may want change but i will do it respectfully because in my opinion they have earnt it.

Exactly this. I have every faith we will be back. But not until The Khunt is gone.

I completely agree. I did suggest this in the post, in fairness.

Indeed the old cliche is very true - football happens in cycles - just as long as we don't become a Bury or Macclesfield mark one, then we will be back to where a club the size of ours with a large fanbase should be....someday! Although we're far from down this season in reality then I can understand everyone's anxiety, as well as frustration for the time being at how far we've fallen - compounded obviously by the points deduction for all the small financial **** ups of late - as double standards ruling as PSR et al seems to be.

How many of those were self inflicted declines?

I guess none of the clubs mentioned won the PL or the FA cup in modern times, or played in the Champions League. So our fall from grace is a bigger one.

That being said, got to admire a positive post on here!

Things will get better one day. But it's just when that begins and how far down things sink before it happens.

My fear is the likes of Bolton Wanderers and Portsmouth. Bolton have been outside of the top two tiers since 2019 and Portsmouth spent over a decade outside of them up until 2024 - and even now they're under threat of just going back down into it, though ironically it's probably our plight that saves them.

They're two clubs I consider us to be bigger than, but I'd also consider those two clubs 'better' than spending prolonged periods outside of the top two tiers.

I don't see either of those clubs reaching even the Premier League any time soon.

Our crash could be as severe as either of those two. In-fact if we do drop this season (we will), it could arguably end up even worse. Never has a club fallen to the third tier with that level of financial noose around their neck. Not even Portsmouth themselves IMO.

With Top saying he’s not selling we are going down Sheffield Wednesday route

I have this fear as well but for slightly different reasons. Chansiri was actively looking to sell Sheff Wed but put a ridiculous asking price on them to try and recuperate some of his losses and that's why he couldn't sell. He then stopped funding day to day operations of the club. As much as I'd like to see the owners sell, if they do start looking for a buyer and ask for silly money to recuperate their losses, they may also decide to stop funding day to day operations of the club and we could easily end up in Sheff Wed's position.

The only hope we’ve got is this technical director is a near enough genius because otherwise we will continue to sink as this child won’t sell up no matter what league we are in.

Stop funding? They haven’t really been funding us as such have they? We borrowed PL money, spent it all on wages and then had to sell players to bridge the gap.

I they’ve already decided that, just that when they did before they could borrow more or sell players. When we drop to League 1 and don’t have the income that’s when we will see if they will put money in for us to stay afloat. My guess is they won’t, and that’s one reason why Top was removed as CEO from KP.

Edit: even when they ‘funded us’ they converted the external debt to debt to KP didn’t they? So I don’t think they have massively funded us for a while. Unless we class the dodgy sponsors as funding…

You're right, they have started to use bank loans secured against parachute payments, which is a worrying sign. But they do still have access to a £40 million loan from KP if needed. Like you say, when the parachute payments dry up, that's when the shit hits the fan. Best case scenario for me is we survive this year, somehow manage to rebuild in the summer and get promoted next year, and then the owners sell. I don't see another quick way out of this

In my opinion, even if we survive next year is worse because we need a complete rebuild and don’t have the funds to do it. I’d be massively shocked if we went up from this division next season should we stay up.

I think the club will need some stability in the championship for a couple of seasons before thinking about promotion, unless we max out our luck on the next manager.

That’s assuming we even stay up this season, and I fear the implications of going down will be severe and takes years upon years to recover from.

Get back to basics.

Offload Seagrave if at all possible.

Do away with lengthy contracts, and moving forward, pay players a salary reflective of the league we're playing in - and possibly even lower.

Listen - actually LISTEN to the fanbase, not release statements, or interviews that just consist of baffling "word salad " to deflect from our capitulation.

Stop the incessant reliance on the club and it's sycophantic yes men, on talking about past glory.

Discuss the here and now.

We are in deep sh*t.

Admit that, and address the issues.
