Our last six permanent and caretaker managers have managed 70 points from 77 league games with 8 clean sheets between them.

Spectacularly awful.

And people genuinely wonder why some moan. We've been a genuinely rubbish team for two years flat now.

Since Fofana left, our defence has been terrible. Not replacing him has been one of our biggest mistakes.

In the 22/23 season, our midfield and attack were alright, it was our horrific defence, Ward and Rodgers that took us down.

He needs to turn on the players and become a massive bad cop IMO. Managers have protected these players for years now and look where it's got us! They need a taste of reality and to be called out after each poor performance, lack of effort and individual mistake.

Could have an even worse effect? Maybe. But I'm sick of this treading on eggshell way we've got.

Call all the ***** out one by in the pressers!

Rowett referenced it last week when discussing the reaction of the crowd, that we had seen it multiple times.

When have you ever seen this approach being successful or indeed, seen a manager keep their job after doing such a thing (thinking Conte at Spurs).

This sort of situation does not require a manager losing their head.

Calling players out publicly would provide zero benefit because ultimately as manager, you’re going to need to call upon 16 of them every game - and you see all of them every day in training.

Even if it was one or two players that you don’t think you will use - you can’t guarantee the reaction of other players in the group and you don’t want a situation where players are playing with the fear of making a mistake.

This is not to say that behind closed doors there will not be truths told to certain players about standards and performance levels - anyone who’s played at any decent level will know this goes on.

But that sort of stuff needs to stay within - an embarrassing public slagging match via the local press and clubs media makes very little sense.

Yeah but would make me feel better!

So far in 7 games he has 1 win, 4 draws and 2 defeats.
If we continue on that trajectory he’ll maybe get 2 more wins if we’re lucky and 2 or 3 draws.
Can’t see it being enough to stop up.

How many games did we not have a permanent manager for before Rowett finally got the job?

I think it was 3 or 4.
It was over 3 weeks until Rowett was appointed.

Nasty stat that, didn't even win his first game in charge either.

We look better under him.
I know that’s not saying a lot.
We will not convert the draws into wins.

We looked better under Dean Smith vs Rodgers too, but we need multiple wins in a row.

Have to win the 2 games over Easter against Preston and Sheffield Wednesday.
I don’t think we will though.
Can see it being 2 draws.

I keep going back over that in my head too!
Charlton, Birmingham and Southampton twice. I reckon he would have got us 3 extra points plus he would have had a free hit in the cup.

Top and Crud didn’t learn from the Smith appointment.

Reminds me of the Leeds and Everton games under Smith where we needed two wins but got two draws

Have to start performing at home - we’re a bit like Spurs in that everybody knows they can get a result here.

4/7 games are at home. We just have to beat Preston & Swansea

I and a lot of others share your frustration here.

The current crop of players collectively stink, both in attitude and applicaton on the pitch ( yes a few like JJ, and possibly Skip on occasions could be cut some levels of slack)  but publicly lambasting them IMO won't work, and increases the chances of these under performing cry babies spitting dummies out of prams etc.

Behind closed doors in private, Rowett has open season with what he can say and do and this is the correct arena to do such things. Likewise if Rowett wants to be critical of the team collectively in post match interviews calling out a performance or the standard "we could be better" doing x,y,z. then I'm fine with that.

Most players deep down want to make the match day squad to massage their ego's regardless of their current form, others need exposure for national team selection or to gain a future move.

We all know who the under performers and liabilities are, who need and crave match day exposure for various reasons, so, for the good of the team and to give us a fighting chance Rowett should grow a pair, more importantly show some intelligence and desire to change things  because what others and he also has done so far just blatantly isn't working, so drop the worst of the under performers and liabilities and really change things up with a number of new faces, starving the culprits of the previously mentioned match day exposure.

It's a World Cup year and players are out of contract,  so jeopardising moves and national team selections would IMO work better then public shaming these selfish sod's.

This 'Fofana, prince of football' meme is pretty irritating.

Lovely to watch with the ball at his feet but in terms of 'defending' (in a sense that means anything to me) he was distinctly average.

That's why stats are pointless in this context. He had been here about 2 days before his first game. In his 7 games we've played away at Ipswich, Middlesbrough and Watford. His first home game was against the most in form team this calendar year.

The only result that is actually terrible is QPR.

We've also picked up 2 clean sheets in these 7 games.

I believe we will stay up.

Yeah but Top's done loads for the city and dishes out doughnuts now and then.

Think we can dis spell that myth given King’s caretaker spell we looked as bad as we’ve been all season and the pre season he led hardly has us looking athletic at the moment

Fitness isn’t something you can improve overnight.

The biggest hilarity is that some people try to make a justification for keeping Shituentes on when he’s probably been one of these shitest managers we ever had. Not one player or one stat go better under that clown
