I wonder if his ‘ambitious’ comment from a while back was to do with the board offering around the job with rewards predicated on play offs rather than survival ??

Nah, his comment ties in with what people where saying about us supposedly having someone lined up and it falling through last minute.

He interviews for the job alongside a few others, he hears we offered it to one of those people and then makes that comment, only for it to fall apart and the next candidate in line, that being him, gets it.

I think it was Vitor Pereira. There where some rumours that he was in the running. He would be "ambitious" for where we are but then the Forest job comes up and he pulls out.

Depends.  Ask Enzo, Cooper, Marti or Ruud.

I think the original question related to last permanent manager who was an ex-player.  Andy King being interim

Under that basis Rob Kelly. For an actual decent period of time then Matt G.

Needs to be announced today so he can get working as soon as possible. Any later, another game could be wasted.

Why tf wasn’t it done yesterday morning and then we all see shots of him, Sale and Carolan on the training pitches with the players later the same day?

Then again why on earth wasn’t it done 3 weeks ago 😂

I think this will actually prove to be be a decent appointment. He's a no nonsense, straight talking type of guy, experienced in this league, and with a connection to the club. Yes, his record prior to us is very average, but his PPG should keep us up this season, and I'd fancy him to have us challenging next season assuming he stays on.

Beyond that is anyone's guess, I suspect if we eventually do get back to the PL he'd struggle but we'll cross that bridge if we get to it. Of the team's he's managed thus far, this is the most talented group he's had at his disposal so I'm interested in seeing if his PPG increases above his average.

I was Rowett, I'd look to bring back someone like a Mike Stowell in either returning as his role as goalkeeper coach or even appoint as assistant manager.

lol

Because he doesn't get too long to get the players actually match fit, something of which it appears, we are lacking.

Some of our players are young lads. 16- 20 years old. If they are not fit that is a travesty.

Why do we take so long to do anything? Is Rudkin a human snail? Just get it done, get him and his team running training. Whats the delay, its not like being slow improves Rudkins shit decision making. The guy is a blithering ****wit. We are in a perilous situation show some urgency you useless bell end!

Knowing how stupid Rudkin is, Rowett could do very well get to say high as say 14th (i know high as 14th ain't exciting) end the season on a high form and they decide to go elsewhere in the summer and bring another foreign coach like another Marti in, thinking he can do better. For me Rowett does a decent enough job then go give him the chance, can't keep searching for managers every four months. Need stability more anything at this club.

To be honest if the club just admitted where they are, say we are skint, say we need to restructure, say we need a stable pragmatic experienced manager to guide us and find some bargain players and guide us through the next few years, not this delusional belief we promote. It ain’t happening. It’s more worrying they are so deluded

the delay in announcing the deal suggests that Rowett knows we are desparate, knows Rudkin is poor at negotiating sensible deals so is probably looking to have our pants down and ask for something slightly outrageous to see if we blink. If it isnt announced by close of business today then prepare to be very worried - if you werent already lol

I hope that they back Rowett by brining in his coaching / Management team.

Obviously the board will want to penny pinch and tell him he has to have Saddler and King as they won't understand the importance of having a settled Management team in place.

Rowett never comes across as manager that moans about tight budget, he just accepts it as what it is. When he was at Birmingham the first time, Millwall where most likely he was working with a small budget he just got on with it.

He'll be in the stands for Stoke probably, not in the dugout

No chance - every chance he takes training today and will 100% be in the dug out
