Jordan James of Leicester City

Jordan James aggravated an injury problem during a fitness test last week and may now be a doubt to feature against Swansea this weekend, Leicester City manager Gary Rowett has said.

James picked up an injury on Wales duty, and while it initially appeared to be a concern, Rowett quelled those fears by suggesting City’s top scorer may even be in contention to feature against Preston last Friday.

But James did not make the squad against North End and then missed out again on Easter Monday as City drew 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday.

Rowett has now said the injury issue was made worse when James underwent a fitness test before the Preston fixture, with the midfielder keen to get back out onto the pitch.

Now he may not even be back to take on Swansea this weekend, when City will again attempt to get out of the relegation zone.

“They weren’t really close,” Rowett said on James and fellow attacking midfielder Aaron Ramsey following the 1-1 draw at Hillsborough.

“JJ had a fitness test for the first game which made it seem like he wasn’t far away. By having a fitness test he’s maybe aggravated it a little bit. It didn’t quite feel like he was close for this one. Aaron Ramsey didn’t make either game.

“Those sorts of players in these sorts of games, both goalscoring number eights that can come up with something out of nothing, of course we’re going to miss them.

“But we’ve got enough players on the pitch to win the game. We’ve got enough players on the pitch to score more than one goal. That’s the expectation for those players.”

James has now missed eight of City’s last 13 games. They have failed to win any of those eight matches.

Lascelles Vestegaard Nelson

Fatawu Skipp Aribo Aluko

Monga Daka Bare Goals

smells of not wanting to risk himself as he will likely be joining another team in the summer.

To be fair, I'm glad you're not picking the team on this one :D

That'd be a brutal watch. I know there's clamour for change, but Fatawu and Thomas as wing backs. Skipp and Aribo in a midfield 2... I'd fancy Swansea to have 4 by half time and that's without the brain dead moments. Does Vietes even speak english?

If there was nothing riding on the game it'd be funny to see if we could ship 10 playing with that team, but I would like us to look somewhat decent as we have done the past 3 games.

I think Daka starts ahead of Ayew mind. Rowett seems to like a settled team.

P.s. don't be quoting this if we end up being 4 down at half time with the usual team! lol

I don't think so, from what I've seen of him and that report. I'd say his fault is in not accepting he's injured. I make that the 3rd time this season when he's aggravated and injury because he's not listened to his body.

Waiting for the ‘if we win this we can still stay up’ crowd. No, we are getting relegated no matter what. Accept it

People talking about wins in the last 5 games. We've only won a single game since Christmas. I really can't see us getting out of this.

Ayew has played himself into starting the next 3 games with that cameo, for Rowett. That’s what he wants experienced heads regardless. We will be mortally wounded next Tuesday at Fratton Park, while Hull will put us all out of our misery and send us down in front of the board and home fans.

Aren’t Portsmouth playing Ipswich next Tuesday?

I mean, our midfield is completely absent regardless of whoever is in it so long as James is out. Was genuinely bizarre watching yesterday and seeing neither Skipp or winks actually in the middle, we ended up with about 7 just in the left wing position half the time, like a green party conference than a football match.

I doubt Vietes actually exists, I'm convinced that 6m in "agent fees" is signing him as a money laundering scheme, like a modern day Sergio Hellings or Leon Crncic, but Begovic is abysmal, I don't want to see him play again after Southampton, and Stolarcyk is not playing well.

Similar to a couple on here, I’d go similar to how we set up at end of Sheff.

                    Stolarczyk

Ricardo Okoli Lascelles Thomas

Fatawu   Skipp   Winks      BDCR

              Ayew.    Daka

the only alternative for me is a change of shape:

           Stolarczyk

Okoli Lascelles Vestegaard

BDCR Winks Skipp Thomas

    Fatawu.           Ayew

                   Daka

I do like the idea of Thomas being further forward, he can beat players and put crosses in….

But it won’t change, so don’t expect it

Pray to God James is back in the first team (and staying healthy until the end of the season).

Otherwise, we'll see five more Sheffield Wednesday away match performances.

More huffing and puffing, somehow scoring a goal here or there, taking a lead, then squandering it – or more or less unsuccessfully trying to play catch-up after going behind.

Thought i'd get a bit of solace from looking at some of the architects of our shiteness and how they are currently doing, hoping they'd have all played utter shite - in some way explaining the hole we find ourselves in.

But no. They are all thriving and contributing to relative success at their new clubs.

what the **** is wrong with leicester city....

Faes - played every game of Monaco's recent 5 game winning run which sees them on the verge of Champs League spots, including beating PSG at home.

El Khannous - 8 goals in 34 games for 4th placed VFB Stutgaart. Reaching last 16 of Europa League

Justin - 22 League games for Leeds who look like avoiding relegation. Going to Wembley for the FA Cup Semi Final

Ndidi - 25 games for Besiktas - top 4 in Turkey. Just got injured in his last game

Coulibaly - getting regular minutes for Sassuolo - top 10 in Serie A.

Edouard - has fired Lens to 2nd in Ligue 1 on the verge of the champs league. With a goal every 2 games. I mean you literally couldn't make it up. He barely moved in a Leicester shirt.

Vardy - voted Serie A player of the month in November.

Soumare - getting minutes for Al Duhail - Top 6 in Qatar

So of all those that have moved on we have someone in the top half / top 6 of Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Superliga and Serie A and players helping poor sides avoid relegation and have good cup runs

Coulibaly is the one here that there should be some solace with. He should / could still play a part for us next season.

The rest you just have to consign to the history books I'm afraid. Shite show of the highest proportions

I admit after Bristol City I got a bit of hope back, but it doesn't take long for it to be knocked out of you again does it.

Personally resigned to the fact the highest we will finish this year is 22nd.

4-2-3-1 unchanged team, 2-1 defeat, rinse and repeat.

I noticed Souttar was with the squad arriving at Sheffield Weds, presume he was the spare / 21st man you take in case of injury in warm up which suggests he's close to ready. Where would he be in the pecking order? For me he's a little less mobile than Okoli but his passing whilst basic is not as hap hazard / random outcome / hot potato time. Physically as a "stopper" he's better than any of the other options. In terms of a partnership would he and Lascelles offer enough mobility and pace or an out ball, I just think he's less of a bomb scare than the others have been and maybe not as mentally scarred and fragile as they are although he's had his own different battles (injury) to contend with.

let's be honest, he's another one who'll never play for us again and walk away on a free laughing about how much he's banked off us

Frustrating because he randomly plays very well like that but follows it up with a lazy half assed effort. He only played well because he finally realized daka was winning that battle. He’ll do nothing again in the next game
