With Dudkin still doing his ditheration of excellence I don't have any confidence we will get someone 'good' or in a timely manner. if we do get someone 'good' it will be more luck than calculated judgement.

Would love the Motherwell manager, Jens Berthel Askou. He has got Motherwell defending well and with fast attacking football, they are a really good team.

I think someone mentioned that we were looking at him in Janruary. Linked with Celtic isn't he though?

I still think Johnson will be top of the list with the McCarron/City Group connection, problem is he has two more play off games left and I imagine it's all dependent on whether Lommel get promoted or not.

If he is high on the list we're still weeks away.

I know that a lot on here wanted Will Still here last season.

Whilst he wouldn't be my first or second choice now, would he be someone that may suit us now?? Will he have learned a lot from his time at Southampton? He is obviously at a point where he needs to rebuild his credibility in the game.

Watching this interview, skip straight to about 56 mins!, it does make me wonder about him.

There's a point in that interview where he said he struggled with "the language barrier"

That'll be all your honour.

Johnson is an interesting one. 51% win rate at Sunderland, in League One but then the wheels fell off a bit. He also has that link with CFG that McCarron will likely look at.

I am guessing he would be one who would 'play the youth' which would wash with a lot fans

I mean McCarron hired him at Lommel so it's more than just a small link.

It's such a tricky one to wrap my head around though, he's a tiny piss weasel and we already have one of them running our club into the ground lol but.... he does appear to have hit rock bottom with hibs and then fleetwood and gone off to actually learn a few things.

It would be a gamble and if he has a wobble his interviews will loose the fans in seconds.

Johnson's assistant is a manger in his own right, and ex city full back Robbie Nielson 👀

I’d rather we stay clear of ex players.
King and Rowett are prime examples as to ex players not working.
My preference if you want experience in league 1 would be Michael Duff at Wycombe or Tom Cleverly at Plymouth.
I realize Cleverly has played for us previously but he has more experience than Fuchs.
Dave Challinor at Stockport as well but I think they’ll go up.
Going for the cheapest option has been our downfall the last few summers.
We should have got Corberan in the summer Enzo went and last summer should have got Rohl.
I’m hopeful that we will also look abroad having been linked with Schreuder.
Fuchs wouldn’t even be under consideration if it wasn’t for him being an ex player.

Your last sentence is nonsense.  It's because he's played for us in the past that we have good insight into his character and can be fairly sure that he has the strength to be his own man that our recent managers have all lacked (Enzo excepted), and we need that almost more than anything else in our next manager.

Will still might go on to somewhere else and do well. The up turn that Southampton have taken since he left is amazing, so would be very worrying to me if we appointed him.

He mentions struggling with low block and squad used to playing passing game. Same issues here too but hopefully we'll move on much of the squad.

Litterally one of the biggest frauds out there.

Horrible news that he is available, as this is exactly the sort of appointment we are likely to make.

I wouldn't say he's a "fraud", it's that he's been fighting depression since his son died.

Career was shaping up well but has understandably struggled since then.

I don't get the impression he's looking for any work right now.

Yep. I do get the feeling LJ might be the latest to benefit from “AM better than the manager” syndrome which is spreading this season lol

Surprised Neil Lennon links havent started yet. Remember a time nearly the leicester job came up his name would be mentioned. Great player but not convinced he by the man to take us back to the championship. Time at Bolton wasnt to be remembered.

Do we have a good insight into his character? Prob as a player but not as a manager.
He may have the attributes as a player to be his own man but it’s completely different as a manager.
Keeping a side up in league 2 and having a less than 30% win rate is hardly a ringing endorsement.
I don’t get this logic that any ex player will be a good manager because they know the club. That’s nonsense. King and Rowett being prime examples.
Our most successful managers have had no previous connection with the club -

Pearson, O’Neil, Ranieri and Little.

Neil Lennon?

His record is better than I thought it was but still very up and down.

But again we wouldn't be thinking of him if he didn't play for us.

That's one crossed off the list then.

I thought so at first but apparently it just means that Bristol are willing to meet the clause—it does not mean that Skubala is going there or wants to. Less of a story than I first thought.

Could we go back in for Brian Barry-Murphy? The work he's done at Cardiff has been fantastic. Can't imagine he would be easy to get, but he's worked here, he knows the facilities, knows a lot of the players.
He knows the club, then again, that's probably why he wouldn't come lol
