I just want a manager with a clear football identity, style and tactics. That we never got with Cooper, Marti and Rowett. The last person with that was Enzo and he was hugely influential and won us the league. Now i dont want that style ever again but there is plenty more out there and there is plenty of managers or younger managers that will drop a league for a season to implement this.

Bit like Corberan in summer 24 or Rohl in Summer 25?😂

Wellens interview is exactly what we don't want imo. You don't see really good managers slagging off players in public unless it's Mourinho a week before he gets sacked. I realise of course we aren't in the market for "really good managers".

Just finished one place above relegation. True to form, tries to blame it on anyone other than himself. He's a bellend. No idea why he keeps cropping up on here. Is it just name recognition?

There’s part of me that thinks when I manager goes in that hard then he probably won’t be in a job come Tuesday…

I thought the same thing, I think Wellens is being quite clever, realises he has taken Orient as far as he can and this will engineer his exit whilst massively raising his profile.

Probably for his track record? Did well at Salford before being unfairly sacked then got a club with no money in Leyton Orient promoted and then missing out on the Championship in a playoff final. All at a team massively punching above its weight

If true, further evidence of the recklessness of an inept board. This club doesn’t have head room to spend £10m on new players. Assuming from the headline that is transfer fees - it’s not there - look at the books.

It’s even more reckless to do this without: a) knowing who the new manager is; b) with the current recruitment structure which has failed miserably over the last 4 seasons; (c) with a host of over paid players in the squad.

It’s throwing money we don’t have to fix a problem create in the this exact way.

Depends whether Top wants to actually throw some money at it or not

I suppose it comes down to whether you look at it from a pure accounting perspective or an EFL rules perspective. The only books we have are for 2024-25. Despite the hefty accounting loss reported for that period last month, we have not been charged for breaching PSR for 24/25 and there doesn’t seem to be any expectation that we will be. We have no idea what this year’s accounts are like or whether we’re likely to breach PSR for 2025/26. From 1 July we’ll move from the PSR regime to the SCMP regime, which works differently.

I’m not convinced we’ve taken on a new loan to fund this £10m kitty as we’ve already flogged our last parachute payment to Macquarie and I can’t see anybody else extending a new line of credit to us. Is it possible that the club has looked at our situation re: PSR this season and/or SCMP next season and calculated we can spend that much before any player sales and stay within the rules? I don’t know, but I also don’t feel there is enough information to definitively rule it out.

The football clubs current trajectory - with or without owner investment is unsustainable. That is further hindered by the drop in actual revenue due to relegation.

Top can throw the kitchen sink at it but the reality is, if we finish 7th due to a last minute goal and the wrong manager choice in the summer (this can all happen in football) - we are further ****ed and we’ve bet the house on it. Being dependent on uncontrollable outside influence while an every day part of business risk cannot continue to be our largest risk.

How many clubs are spending £10m “to promote” from league one - it’s like the championship 2024 - it didn’t need that level of investment.

The club needs to really consider what it is they are doing IF Nixon is correct here. It’s the future of the club here.

I'm not convinced we have a transfer kitty of any extent at all. Total guesswork until it happens. To me, looks like you are an eternal optimist and post *anything* that sounds vaguely positive. Unfortunately lived experience has been the polar opposite

Back in the real world, still playing PL wages for sh1t players in League One, with the most inept leadership in football history and dire financial times for KP. Hope I'm wrong though, and you are right!

100%

It's an absolute red flag of an interview.

Yes we need someone committed and unprepared to take slacking. But we do not need more performative nonsense, or fallings out, at this club.

Don't think even Rudders has Richie Bellend on his list. Nor should anyone on here!

I wouldn't put it past them.

What could possibly go wrong, after trying to implement the pound shop Pepball method.
