As we face down the barrel of the gun, looking at entering League 1, I think we need to consider what happens with the club.

The last time we were relegated, we when down with the 2nd best defence in the league. We just couldn’t score! We had a squad filled with players that shouldn’t have been in league 1. Dyer, Tunchev, Oakley, King, Hobbs, Berner, Gradel, Howard and Fryatt. I don’t think we will have that this time.

I’m going to suggest at this point, we don’t enter administration (that’s a hope rather than inside knowledge). Fatawu and El Khannous get sold. They keep the club afloat would be my guess.

We’ll be losing Ricardo, Daka, Ayew, Lascelles, Marçal, Faes and Begovic as contracts expire on the 30th June.

Question marks on Winks contracts. Some suggest it expires, others don’t. He won’t be here either way.

James, Ramsey, Mukasa, Aribo and Richards will also return to parent clubs.

This leaves us with (before the vultures set about the rest of the squad).

GK : Stolarkzyk, Vietes, Bausor

DEF : Vestergaard, Nelson, Kristiansen, Souttar, Okoli, Thomas, Alonko, S Thomas, Coulibally, Joseph, Wilson-Brown

MID : Choudhury, Mavididi, Golding, Skipp, Page, Monga, Braybrooke, Alves, Cartwright

ATT : Reid, Evans, Popov, Opuku, Richards

I look at that said and I think without serious, serious rebuilding work, we don’t have the quality we had last time.

I also don’t think we’ll be that active in the transfer market.

I’d like to think most of the players will be gone. However, can we really be sure most of them will wanted by clubs who will come close to their wages here?

The players from the first team squad that I think will definitely be here are:

Aluko

Souttar (can’t see anyone risking a transfer after his injury)

Thomas

Hamza

Page

Alves

Braybrooke

Monga

Evans

BDCR

Silko Thomas

You can add Hutchinson to that list

I wondered if someone would actually sign him up. Could see him going to Liverpool etc

I thought that had already been confirmed by the buying club that he has been sold

we should get rid of alot alot of the squad, complete refresh is needed

get rid of all the ones out of contract, likes of mav, winks, vesty, skipp, bdr, vk, okoli......even Jakub if a decent bid comes in

Im wondering who we'll get in as manager

That depends on the relegation clause in their contracts, players have already took a hit in getting relegated from the premier league, could be further deductions with another relegation

Its all guesswork at this point due to Rudkinomics. It also depends on whether any of the players are willing to drop a year or two lottery winning contracts to go and play for someone they previously thought they were above, and even whether they have any suiters. Im expecting a fire sale but also wouldn't be surprised if were still stuck with a lot of the losers already on big wages. I'd expect Vestergaard, Nelson, Kristiansen, Souttar, Okoli, Coulibaly, Mavididi all to get moves. Monga will go to anybody he wants and we'll get 10-15m for Fatawu if were lucky. Choudhury unfortunately isn't going anywhere same with Thomas.

We absolutely need a good GK and striker but expect with the speculation on finances not to get either, or perhaps we could settle with a loan. If glover is in charge of 'scouting' it'll be a disaster anyway.

We could potentially make a good fist of it if we recruit a new keeper and striker, keep ahold of a couple including our promising youngsters and get a couple of experienced seasoned pros in, like Pearson did with the likes of Powell, Bruno Berner, Tony Warner and Wayne Brown last time, but were missing the likes of Oakley, Fryatt, Howard, King, Dyer etc etc that you've mentioned.

Until they prove us wrong it'll likely be a load of smoke and mirrors with them feeding certain journalists tidbits like were ready to bring in so many players but it depends on the sales of so many, and eventually fizzles out despite a couple of relatively exciting players being linked and 'in advanced talks'.

We also need a proper manager and one that can clear the decks properly and based off their track record we know for a fact no proper manager will touch them with a barge pole so in conclusion it's looking seriously bleak

I think we will clear the decks entirely and we really should. Just keep the youth players and get anyone else out the door.

id love to keep souttar but hes about the only one. In all honesty hes never seemed happy here anyway so not likely to hang about.

With a further wage reduction it will actually be relatively easy to shift these mercenaries

Yes, you’re right actually, €18m isn’t it. So by the time we get another £15m for Fatawu, we’ll cover the cost of running Seagrave for next season.

Vestergaard, Nelson, Stolarkzyk, Choudhury, Reid and Vietes will all only have 12 months left at the start of next season. I doubt we’ll get much for any of them.

Would rather we are given an embargo for the next couple of years and scrape our way through league one seasons than give Glover and the rest of the incompetent bellends any more opportunity to piss money away on awful players.
This seasons 2 windows combined has resulted in 1 decent acquisition. Last seasons not even that given El Khannous’ character massively dubious. That’s 1 decent signing across 4 windows combined.
Less than 3 months ago with it abundantly clear the financial meltdown we are in, promotion impossible, we decide to spend god knows how much a week on Joe Aribo and fail to get a striker in. Beyond criminal.

We would genuinely be better off not getting anyone else in at all until Glover and whichever idiots he uses as scouts have all ****ed off.

tbh I never warmed to El Khannous even though he had a few glimmers of talent - from the off I felt he was the embodiment of the modern cocky, self interested, disloyal modern footballer who wouldn't blink at the opportunity to leave us to better himself which he proved by having a paddy and wanting to leave because he didn't want to play in the championship

Don’t know about a rebuild next season if we drop into Division 1 with all the players out of contract, looks like we maybe promoting a few u18,21’s into the first team at least these young lads will have a heart and passion for the club unlike the mercenaries fuching off !

Faes is under contract until 2027 not 2026, we should get some cash for him..

Souttar may get a move, Bobby Reid will 100% get a move to a championship club. Monga if it’s true what I’m being told is going to Man City anyway…. So, I think the squad will be less than this.

I predict by the time the season starts, King will be in charge still, and we won’t have signed anyone. We will still have a few of the high earners on the books and will be trying to offload them. I can genuinely see that first game being basically academy players.

Something like

Stolarczyk

Aluko

Nelson

Gray

Thomas

Page

Braybrook

Evans

Alves

S. Thomas

Hutchinson.
