Assuming this figure is accurate, it'll be interesting to see how 17k new fans affects the atmosphere in the stadium.

I would like to think that it's 17k motivated supporters who have replaced 17k people who have sat there in silence for years and have refused to hold the club to account.

OR....

The happy clappers renewed and the people who generated the atmosphere where the ones who were also disgruntled and have walked away, only to be replaced by 17k more happy clappers.

I really do get why people would not only not renew but ridicule those who do BUT with leagie 1 working off of revenue as opposed to losses, those season ticket sales will be massive financially.

We can only wait and see.

I personally think we were filled to the brim with fans who weren’t adding to the atmosphere and were going home bored after 80 minutes, and I think it’s those people who haven’t renewed.

That message suggests they don’t know how many they’ve sold which almost seems impossible to believe.

You say that….

There were numerous reports that around 20k renewed, meaning around 3.5-4k didn't renew (depending on exactly how many season tickets we sold last season). So probably around 3.5-4k new fans, not 17k.

Haha yeh surely this is what that poster meant, not that 17k didn't renew!

No doubt the suggestion that season tickets have all sold given that hundreds appeared available when i looked 2 days ago will be followed by an announcement that the 5000/1 match has been sold out! When it would appear that less than 10% of tickets have been sold despite a number of stands being closed. Perhaps also that there is a waiting list for their superb value hospitality offering where you can enjoy a buffet lunch, programme, padded seat and possibly a visit from an ex player (if available) for only £300 ! Well worth the extra £275 on top of the ticket price of £25.

17k was a figure floating around.

Someone I know was told by the club that only 2k didn’t renew.

Very unlikely that 17k didn’t renew but that will now probably be a fact.

I think whoever suggested 17k got their wires crossed. Apparently we sold 22,500 season tickets last season (not 23.5k as I said earlier) and more than 20k renewed, which would tally with your 2k figure for non-renewers.

Don't believe that one bit give how sparse the map was when it opened up to general sale. Plus the bot that someone had that counted just over 20k seats sold after last years' members had their share.

Shows you how badly they fumbled expansion, we have our worst ever season and about 13% of our STHs don’t renew. Plus the take up is pretty strong.

We’ve had a generation locked out meanwhile whilst tickets were harder than ever (sometimes needlessly) to come by.

Many on here even said and still say it shouldn't happen 🤯

Tickets sold won't necessarily mean good attendances. We sold out the season tickets last season and many matches had almost blocks of empty seats.

Probably won't be as bad though. Lots of people who renewed thought we'd be fighting for promotion again. Most who renewed this time around will go regardless.

There are a large group (evidently) that going to the football is just to embedded in their life, they wouldn't know what else to do.

I have a group of friends who all renewed and they said what else am I going to do?

I do understand those with kids going, I used to love going to the football with my dad regardless of anything that was going on at the club.

I get what you mean about a churn being needed, refresh the fan base is the point I guess.

Question is though, is it the right section of fans that have been lost? Probably not. Most of those who have not renewed are those who really care and would get behind the team and make an atmosphere if there team was one you could get behind. The likelihood is, we have retained the ones that just sit there and moan unless it’s time to clap a them off after another diabolical performance or resort to physical violence against anyone calling out the club’s incompetence.

It will be interesting to see how the match day attendees are next season and the atmosphere as a result.

Who knows? I am fairly certain from my point of view that my days are numbered because there's a type of fan within football who just doesn't align with how I view football. I think LCFC might be the club which has fully translated over to that.

I think it's a harsh reality that those who didn't renew had probably given up (well within their rights too) a long time ago. There's a debate still to be had for now that anger still needs to be seen and heard. I feel like some of our fanbase has used up the energy of wanting change far too early. Ownership changes are battles of attrition. Everyone pointing fingers at each other is exactly what's happened elsewhere at other clubs.

The fanbase has to churn - we now just see how passionate that new generation are for Leicester City. It was always going to happen rather it's not happened in some traditional organic process it did for years sadly. It had to happen at some stage, now it's a case of seeing how it all plays out.

The great irony of the split within the fanbase is that those advocating for change are apparently 2016 legacy supporters when the reality is you would have been a category 1% of season ticket holders if you started following more closely that season. The majority of those advocating for change from what I see had their early LCFC supporting years shaped by the impact of administration and the subsequent fall-out of that which led to the third tier but also their early childhood days were probably still at Filbo and had a sprinkling of footy before PL money really affected it. The advocacy for change is to avoid a similar administration or period where opposition fans can rightly say LCFC ripped off various businesses in the process.

Those that are getting season tickets this year are likely to have their establishing supporter years to be 2016 - 2021, so interesting to see how that manifests as they will also been brought up in an era of characterless atmospheres.

That’s a very carefully worded post. I don’t think we have sold 23k at all. I think they have just closed the window to deal with the admin/raise demand/ send out a message to those not renewing and they’ll go back on sale.

It's very weird. Almost worrying as though it's been checked legally. Or AI.

Agreed, and like someone else said, it’s a strange way of saying ‘sold out’ which tells you they haven’t sold out.

Hilarious if they have opened up every available seat in the stadium and ended up leaving less single match tickets meaning income wise they have lost out, I wouldn’t put it past them at all.

I half thought they have might have done this you know.

Way less seats left in SK1 now where previously they held a few hundred back for match tickets.

I think they have, I moved season tickets last year and was told there was nothing available and then all of a sudden loads were available, and I assume they were ones ring fenced for this.

I’ve renewed, no brainer ! The wife would be drawing up a list of jobs to do on my newly found free Saturdays.

What percentage of season tickets can be sold ? Sure I seen before where you can’t sell every seat there must be some for members etc..
