It's been mentioned in the Goodbye Vardy thread, but I thought it would be worth running a poll to see what the opinions are of people on this forum as to whether Vardy should return for one last season in L1.

Would it tarnish his reputation? Would he still be an effective option for us? Would he help to restore some of the standards around the first-team squad?

A competent club would hope to bed-in a good young striker and progress to the championship full of confidence.
But that’s a competent club, so depends what the options are.

2 up top with Vardy playing alongside a young prospect would be nice.

If we were able to sign someone like Lorent Tolaj or Dom Ballard, then it would surely only be beneficial to have them learn from the likes of Jamie Vardy for one season. He'd also be a great mentor for someone like Jake Evans too. I don't think he would be the first name on the teamsheet, but he'd be very good to have around.

Legend, but we need to move on. The more reminders we have of where we used to be, the more depressed I'll be.

And plus he's earnt the right to not have to put up us right now.

Yes, on the grounds that even at his age he's likely to be better than anybody else we could sign. We'd probably have stayed up last season if he hadn't left. I can't see it, though.

I was actually more torn on this than I thought I would be.

First, I thought yes, it would be great to see him play for us again but then but then I thought more deeply and came to a no conclusion as it's best not to risk tarnishing his status with us and just keep his legendary affiliation end where it did.

I'd get him back in the club in some capacity in an instant but let him be known for what he has already done for us.

Definitely benefits to him coming if his wages are a fraction of what he's on now, less than 15k it would need to be to make sense, he could give a season of coaching to younger attackers, but my gut on this is to say lets move on, he doesn't deserve to be in League One, I'd rather we spend the £1m+ he will cost us for a season on a player that will be here for the future.

In League One he's going to be taking a lot of minutes off of anyone we sign, now is the time to be giving youngsters and new signings all the minutes they can get on the pitch so that if we do manage to scrape up, they have more chance of establishing themselves at higher levels. The last thing we need is players like Evans losing minutes because Vardy is here.

Our sole consideration next season is how to get out of League One immediately. There is no way that Vardy would play 46 games so using him strategically from the bench and as an occasional starter, and as mentor to players like Evans, could make the difference between achieving promotion or missing out.

It's a shame there's probably nothing in the story.

I voted yes but then had a little think and as much as I would love Vardy to come back for another season and never leave. They way he left scoring his 200th goal was perfect and would hate for him to come back and just end up injured all the time or not do as well.

Also I think if he comes back it stops the club having to look for a young up and coming striker that can play for us long term and that's what really needs to happen now

Doubt we can afford him

I bet we can he wont be on more than 30-40k in Italy i dont think plus if he wants to come back to leicester a deal could be found I'm sure. It's just weather he wants to and we want to i think

Absolutely not. That time is long gone now. All he'd do is be another excuse for people to cut KP more slack as they'd fixate on how he's back at the club rather than the failings of the club. And another reason for us to stop planning for the future

Nah, never go back to the ex as they say.
I can only recall Dickov and Guppy returning for second spells, and that wasn't exactly a success.

He's not getting anything like he used to here, and it facing relegation anyway.  Will a PL or Championship team take him - definitely not PL, and whats the point going to Bristol or Preston on the Championship.

Jamie Vardy + Leicester is hugely marketable. Fans will come and away ends will be more full than usual just to see him. Being part of another redemption story just ads to that.

Dont think it will happen though.  But a part of me wants it to, just to remove the sh1t stain that was 'Ayew' written above the 9 shirt.

My heart says 'Yes 100%'. I'd love to have Vardy back with us for a year in League 1' It might be his final season as a player, so potentially a great way for him to finish.

Head however, says No. Rudkin would never go for it for starters, and I wouldn't want to block the opportunity for an up and coming striker who could play a key role in our future.

I could see Vardy as the new Birch though. Imagine the mayhem he would cause.

Part of me says no, stay on 200 goals, but then part of me says Rudkin will waste another 5m on a crap striker on a three year deal (roughly 32k a week plus wages) so if Vardy is willing, why not?

Vardy learning someone like Jake Evans for a year? What youngster wouldn’t want to learn from Vardy?

You saw how much BEK loved playing alongside him. Best tonic for these players.

Genuinely curious as to why some would say no to this? We've just watched a full season of Ayew and Daka (Ayew with 9 contributions in 42 matches) and Vardy has got 8 contributions in about half the matches in a superior league.

If its because we don't want to block youth pathways of someone like Evans or Hutchinson then fair enough I guess but it couldn't have been worse than what we got served up this past season. Maybe he can mentor some of the lads coming through!

Also if its to stop Wednesday signing him and scoring against us...no brainer :D
