This is a critical appointment. It needs to be the right person. Once he is selected, we all need to get behind him as he will need to oversee a massive overhaul of players, style and mentality.

When you look back over the past five years, it is clear that own downfall began with, in my view, three seeds: (1) the club allowing Tielemans to run down his contract (this broke the financial discipline the club had but it was also a gamble to win things); (2) Rodgers instilling a loser mentality that year later we still see it in players (instead of qualifying for the ECL, we massively choked two seasons in a row when we were comfortably sitting in the top 4); (3) certain players who were just not good enough and had the loser mentality instilled by Rodgers given long term contracts on massive wages or were otherwise the manager kept playing (I won’t name names here as it can be controversial and I have a view on who they are).

The seeds were there since Rodgers. He sowed the seed for our first relegation, when it was a shock to the entire football community that a team with so many good players (Tielemans; Maddison; Barnes; Vardy; Ricardo; etc to name a few) can go down.

Our first season back: controversial I know, but Coopers was keeping the club mid table but after his sacking we replaced him with someone who had no idea (RVN) and took us down.

This season: Repeat. We were underperforming yes, but then we hired a manager whose experience was to fight relegation in the second tier. We hired the wrong manager and our record was atrocious. For a club like ours to be relegated in the second tier is unforgivable. Bucks stop with the club management for choosing the wrong managers.

They better get this next one right.

Possibly because King Power are secretly trying to put the club up the sale, then informing the public about it?.. 🔮

They won't find a buyer. They need us back in the championship at least.

I think it's just the norm as it's a pattern we've followed for years.

If the club doesn’t make an appointment until early July and then hires a free agent who was available from the start, it will show that nothing has changed; if the delay means we manage to recruit a very good candidate who is currently in work, it may turn out to be worth it. Big moment for McCarron.

I wasn't expecting anything to happen on may, especially as the premier league/playoffs are still happening. However, I do think that movement should start in June. World cup won't affect us and we need to be so proactive before the season starts.

McCarron reputation is on the line here. If hes allowed to do things his way then we may have e a chance as someone new is taking over. However, if he's a yes man...we're screwed.

If we’re paying compensation for somebody we might not be able to afford it until July 1.

But you can still say Rowett isn't continuing?

Yes, you certainly could if you were 100% certain about that. However if you were pursuing other candidates but wanted to keep Rowett as a back-up option, you wouldn’t say anything. To be honest, that’s where I think we’re at: the club is targeting candidates already in work but is not certain we will get any of them, hence the awkward silence on Rowett.

We rightly slate Rudkin but it sounds like even he is left in the dark as to when Top will make these kind of decisions.

He's only ever acted when he's been in the country too. Which of course, isn't even that often.

I could write essays on how bad this is. If someone told me this was deliberate sabotage id completely believe it at this point.

Think mine like a lot of peoples patience has ran out with the people running the club, all your points are 100% valid. But it all feels like groundhog day.

I've said this in the past it feels like its either that(i don't think he is but it feels like it) or he is so naive verging on stupid that he doesn't get it.
