Oscar is far too posh for Spoons.

Oscar is one of those names that is now a bit posh-coded when it's a baby but also connotes an old London Irish guy playing cards in a pub in Cricklewood.

As @Finnegan says they were poor then. Got a few dodgy decisions to beat Croatia, drew with Mexico and beat a poor Cameroon before shithousing wins over Chile (on pens) and Colombia before getting battered in the semi.

Yeh I was always delighted to watch them suffer the 7-1 because they were a horrible team and without their referees they’d have gone in the first round. The Croatia game was a joke and they knew they couldn’t beat Colombia for skill so they just kicked them for 90 minutes and never got booked.

Similar to Italy they haven’t produced the same quality players since the early 2000s.

I’d love for England to play this. Brazil team during the knockout stages. We’d absolutely boss them in midfield..

It never works out that way with England, particularly in knockout stages of tournaments.

This England midfield, on paper at least, works better together than any other in my lifetime (my memory goes back as France 98).

Think this particular Brazilian team needs a more mobile striker who isn’t afraid to come deep..

Someone like Joao Pedro…? 😅

Well we’ve been doing alright over the last 10 years

We were appalling in euro 2024 and had no answers against Slovenia and Slovakia, albeit for a speculative overhead kick from Bellingham.

Any time we come up against a top 10 nation in the knockout stages we lose.

Granted this was all under Southgate and hopefully things will be different under Tuchel. Let's also hope Tuchel has all the luck of the draws Southgate always seemed to get as well.

I’d imagine Germany were ranked in the top 10 when we knocked them out at the euros?

Bit rich of the BBC commentators to criticise other broadcasters for endless crowd shots.

Sick of them glazing the US at every opportunity too. Shame we haven't had any shots of the commentary box, bet you'd be able to make out the brown noses and orange lips from a mile away.

Not sure, but we all know that Germany team wasn't a German team of their usual standards and we were favourites going in to the match.

The last time we beat a team in a 50/50 game in a tournament or one we might not be expected to win im my view was probably Argentina in 2002 in the group stage.

Let's hope we know now how to dominate games against such team but still have reservations until I see us do it again.
