Brazil don’t have the legs in central midfield, doesn’t matter how good the wingers are, they can’t go deep in the competition playing like this. Joelinton would actually be good for them instead of Paqueta. They need someone with an engine in the middle there.

They were shit then though weren't they. The decline started well before that. It shouldn't have been a surprise they didn't win their own world cup. 

 

Oscar, Bernard, Fred, Hulk, Luiz Gustavo, David Luiz, Dante, all toss. You could generously call that a Europa League last 16 side at best. 

 

Thiago Silva probably the only player in that squad that would have gotten in a classic Brazil squad from the late 90s.

As @Finnegan says they were poor then. Got a few dodgy decisions to beat Croatia, drew with Mexico and beat a poor Cameroon before shithousing wins over Chile (on pens) and Colombia before getting battered in the semi.
