Iran with a late disallowed goal ?

Was a D.Trump on VAR !

Can see both Belgium and Egypt progressing even further now .

Just saw that, what a piss-take of a decision, especially at a time when one of the host nations (Canada) has implemented the Daylight rule for offsides!

Makes total sense though. *sigh* guess it's time to get the chart out again.

Egypt don't count for the bad guy list by the way. Donald wants to build a hotel inside one of the pyramids, so he's keeping them sweet.

Shit decision there was an Egyptian on the left keeping him onside

Trump would have been on the phone to the VAR team.

Hope Iran get through some how it would be justice ( and more entertaining  than Scotland)

Iran's winner ruled out by VAR for offside.

What am I missing? They drew the line on the wrong defender?

Exactly.

Disgraceful

The gloss is coming off the world cup for me. We've had the Messi non red card, the Ghana non penalty, pretty sure Pickford should have sent off too, Iran dubious non goal (should it have stood?)

Ok Iran goal was offside. Maybe not so bad.

As much as I wanted Iran to win, is it not the correct decision? Goalie was ahead of play so the last defender is effectively the keeper and the line was correctly drawn on the second defender?

Yeah, people are calling a correct implementation of the offside rule a disgrace

What was the Pickford one? Because on a different replay, if the same incident you're on about, the Ghana player has his studs up on Pickford's shin...

It would be so much easier to just post IFAB Law 11 instead of writing fan fiction

I've been a season ticket holder for about 15 years and watched hundreds if not thousands of games of football.

Never knew the offside rule was based on the 'second last opponent'.

It's basically just two players between attacker and goal.

The point is that one of those two players 99.99% of the time is the goalkeeper on the line, but not always

Which is why I mentioned Canada currently using the daylight rule. Even FIFA know that VAR deciding offsides by margins the naked eye can't see in motion is universally unpopular. They're literally trialling moving away from it in one of the host nations, and it's been well-recieved.

That doesn't get given before VAR. He's off by a gnat's dickhair and even then it's debatable.

Technically correct, sure, but bugger me does it really add anything to the game? We're still sat here picking it apart regardless.

The chart is a joke by the way, don't take everything you read so seriously.

For a more proper response, I would be more than happy to have the law changed should the CanPL’s trial prove successful. Whether we like it or not VAR is here to stay at these tournaments so I’m all for trying to find ways to make it suck less.

I just don’t have a problem with the decision last night even if I would have greatly preferred Iran to score that winner because the VAR did his job correctly and transparently.

Neither did I to be honest!
