DJ Barry Hammond Posted 29 August Posted 29 August He’s sabotaging himself through poor decision making.
Patrick Posted 29 August Posted 29 August He's even worse than I expected him to be. The sheer stupidity of appointing a bloke who had Rangers in 8th and was chased out of the car park by their fans for a season where the existence of the club is potentially at stake. 3
winteriscoming Posted 29 August Posted 29 August Unable to get a win against 2 promoted clubs and Burton in first 3 games whatever way you put it is dreadful. Get rid asap. 1

HankMarvin Posted 29 August Posted 29 August He will be happy with that, hitting the bar is on the players
Nods Posted 29 August Posted 29 August We can't afford to be both patient and wasteful in our football. Love it or hate it, this football only works if you're clinical. We concede far too much space behind us to be creating little and spurning the few chances we do create. For all the flaws of the Enzo season, we were so clinical. And the chances we created were of high quality. A team with any quality at all would have tucked us away in that match. We were wide open pretty much the entirety of that first half and MK Dons didn't have the pass to exploit it. Can't be surprised though, this is the hallmark of Russel Martin's teams. It's exactly what you get with him. Ineffective. From a purely statistical perspective, his approach just lends itself to as many high quality chances being conceded as created. So we'll win some where we're clinical and we'll lose some when the opposition is. But we sure as shit aren't going to dominate the league. I'd put us firmly mid-table. 2

Mr.Bingles Posted 29 August Posted 29 August Get rid of the ****! Shit style of football. We were our most successful playing direct counter attacking football.
Popular Post kingfox Posted 29 August Popular Post Posted 29 August I’ll try and be balanced, feel free to call me a deluded idiot if you want to… At the end of the day it’s a results business, and therefore numerous fans will rightfully feel frustrated. From a performance perspective, I thought it was our best league performance of the season so far, we did everything right today apart from score, you can’t blame Russell for that. But from a squad perspective, we badly need a striker who can manage 15-20+ goals, or Russell Martin and this team will get absolutely nowhere this season. 9

Playing one up top? They were appalling and in their previous 2 games have faced 8.5 big chances
Beachyboy Posted 29 August Posted 29 August Do we even have any money to sack him and what would we actually bring in instead? I'm not a fan of Martin but I think if we sack him the club will somehow manage to find somebody worse. I'd argue each managerial appointment has got progressively worse since Steve Cooper.
funkyrobot Posted 29 August Posted 29 August I thought we absolutely dominated that game, including lots of shots. Played some lovely football, had starting wingers and finishing wingers. Played lots of the kids. Everyone worked really hard with maximum effort and we just couldn’t get the ball in the net. Finishing is an issue for sure but wow the criticism on here. To moan at a young team after that performance and slag off the manager and demand his sacking at this stage of the season is just crazy. 2 1

I don't agree with Russell Martin's football, but equally, how do you expect us to play direct counter attacking footballing as favorites in the league? The opposition has to take the game to you if you're going to counter, and that will very rarely happen for us in this division. Now that doesn't mean we have to play suicide football, but as a fan base we need to forget about the success we had that one season in the Premier League. It isn't repeatable, not without Kante and Vardy (arguably the best in the world at that time in terms of ball recoveries and stretching defenses), and least of all at this level. Class it as appalling if you want, yourself and many others will feel frustrated because it’s more points dropped and we didn’t score. But we had 24 shots today, hit the post, hit the bar, we did everything right today apart from put the ball in the net. We saw yet more evidence today that this team is crying out for a striker who can hit 15-20+ goals this season, if that doesn’t get rectified in the coming days, then we’ll have more results like today and I don’t see Russell lasting in the job very long. 3

Yeh let’s play counter attacking football against teams that haven’t got players of the same ability, who are happy to play a low block, that don’t want the ball and will take a point against us even at home. 🤪 1
BlueBus Posted 29 August Posted 29 August I've always said from the start, it's not RMs style of football I particularly don't like, it's distinct lack of ability to win football games which is my issue. I got battered for pointing out his win record was something like 19th worst in the league but if you employ a manager who wins on average 1 in every 3 to 4 games, don't be surprised if you win 1 in every 3 to 4 games.
Tuna Posted 29 August Posted 29 August Feels the objective with Martin Ball, doesn't include scoring goals. Tick tock.
