Pointed out to my boy that PSG went long more times than we do. The possession obsession needs to come to an end.

We haven't the luxury of affording anyone "a few seasons" to find their feet.  The club may be out of existence by then.  Besides, you're talking Prem level with Ferguson whereas we have only div1 opposition to beat.

Football has moved on !!   Most sane people have realized that without the right players possession just doesn't work.

Martin just isn't capable of moving on & in truth why would he !!! Clubs keep hiring him & he keeps getting paid off.

He did, but he had also won a load of trophies domestically and in Europe with Aberdeen before he pitched up there. Whereas there is scarce evidence that Russell Martin is a good manager or worth persisting with.

I used to have a real bug-bear over Mendy, I called him “Broken Toy”, he just couldn’t face the right way, default setting was to swivel and play it sideways or backwards. It would drive me crackers especially when you’re behind chasing the game. The Spurs game where a win would have got us CL qualification I absolutely lost it with him :mad:

 

Now, now we have 2 dozen of the f***ers! :mad::mad::frusty:

 

It was vs Peterborough where I queried if it was down to hypnosis, every time we progressed to half way and won a free kick the default setting of the taker was to swivel without even looking upfield, face their own goal, drill the ball back 20 yards and leave our deepest player facing 9 team mates all covered by 10 opponents who have had time to get into shape.

Not even a look, who knows there may be a gaping hole where their full back should be (or is that just us), there may be a 2 vs 1 somewhere, the guy conceding the free kick may have hurt himself……but no, zombie / drone like, backwards it goes, the gained territory conceded.and putting us more at risk than the opposition. 


it’s that single element, the forced mentality that worries and angers me, it’s unnatural, awkward looking and surely against the instincts of any one who has ever enjoyed playing the game. They’re puppets and Martin is Matthew Corbett operating them (Souttar even sounds like Sooty :dunno:) or chess pieces carrying out his bizarre fantasies.

Like all the best teams, they have the ability to mix it up. It's not even the possession football that kills you, it's the inability to adapt to the situation

Id take a hard fought 1-0 win any day, with little possession.

 

Games where we defend properly and shut up shop at the back.

 

The opposition knows to wait till we produce a loose pass and they all just counter and look for a quick goal. (What we used to do)

It seems years since those days. Our inability to keep clean sheets has been killing us for quite a few seasons & we will do no good until it is sorted out.

Unfortunately the idiots at our club who appolnt managers never think to get someone who actually knows how to organise a defence

Everybody else is wrong in Veg Lasso’s demented head. He's a complete and utter psychopath who has delusions of grandeur about how football should be played. His crackpot philosophy is garbage and peaked around 2010-2012 with Pep’s Barca team and the golden era of the Spanish national team. 

 

Numbskull Martin is trying to emulate prime Messi and Iniesta with Leicester in league 2.
