They've only opened up three blocks so far lol

Shows the staffing cuts.

Strange though, this is basically the accessible home pre season friendly. I'll be going with my daughter for her first game and her school friend and his Dad. Also a couple of others I know bringing kids along or kids who don't necessarily support us.

I know it's holidays but I think there will be more wanting to go to this than the club realise, especially with the stupid kick off time for the 'glamour' friendly.

Being sensible, they can soon open up extra areas.

If demand is there they will open up more - a daft approach would be to open the whole stadium and have a load of unnecessary costs?

1979/80 v Rotherham United (H) is when we last played a League Cup fixture on a Saturday.

2 legs if I remember rightly.

Lost 2-1 at home I think Youngy scored for us and lost 3 - 0 away.

Won the league that year too

Correct.
Were definitely concentrating on the League that season.

£15 on a Saturday afternoon for essentially our first competitive game under RM.

I'll be there.

The demand will be there to fill the West Stand, but otherwise won't be there due to the pricing.

Usually for these games they'll open most of the West Stand (which will fill anyway), but they are obviously expecting not many. It's their own doing.

Was surprised to see that the Tranmere/Rochdale match is on TV here today.

And even more surprised to see that Ince is playing for Tranmere.

It’s a preliminary round round which is embarrassing how that’s a thing 🤣

Me too!

What a fall after playing for Liverpool, Inter Milan and Man Utd!

They now have the end blocks of the West Stand on sale. I emailed to ask when I could buy a safe standing ticket and they said I can’t ; only the West Stand will be open. Perhaps I should get a ticket with the Cobbler’s fans , they can stand up!

BTW, my mate said his ticket took ages to arrive and it’s a paper ticket!

First game of the season with the new manager in place, 26 degrees in the summer sun, a chance to down a few bevs without the Mrs knowing. A chance to watch how our youngsters get on against a bruising team like Northampton, with us hopefully banging in goals left, right and centre.

I'm really looking forward to this, can't believe they only open up the west stand. Could have at least done the kop or family stand as well, I'm sure as the day approached people would buy.

That said, I'm fully expecting my utopian dream to be shattered within 20 mins and us being out of a major cup before the regular season has even started!
