There is some truth in the pull out of Derby due to an interest in us. Derby may well just have been used to negotiate a better deal with us. Do we know for certain that it’s Turki though?

 

I’d heard it was a Saudi Investment fund, but I guess it might still be headed in terms of the bid by Turki.

Like I said, I've not been following it at all and like most know next to sod all about it. 

 

The only thing I thought might make a difference (idle conjecture alert alarm) is the extent of the planning that's already been done. I know someone at the City Council who was party to the planning of big projects and he always painted a picture of the ground expansion and associated works getting so close to happening that at one point he'd assumed it had started.

To be fair if a Saudi came in and promised the council a load of infrastructure improvements, they'd lap it up. So you're right there's probably still good potential. But he'd want at least 15-20k for the arena i'm sure.

Why would Turki wait until we are on the market and entertaining offers from all potential owners? 
 

He could have stepped up months ago to do it as an off market deal and not ended up in a scenario where he’s competing with other bidders leading to an increased cost.

Turki al Sheikh has done good things for boxing  and same for snooker. 

Also seems to come in and stamp personality / way of working on what his organisation do around a sport. Even if that is to Saudify it and align certain aspects of the new project to events back in his homeland.

Has a serious reputation to protect and so you imagine wouldn't mess about and be a rogue owner.

The reason we are still worth some money is the stadium and seagrave which are worth some money. the teams and player value are in disarray hence the valuation.

You can’t build any arenas near there ground surely ? It’s dumped in the middle of an industrial estate. Ours is out the way a bit but we have all the land next to it for these extra facilities. It does make you wonder he pulled out as we went up for sale. The boxing arena and hotel etc would be amazing for the city and LCFC for revenue .

I have a hunch it will be this guy - as head of a Saudi Investment Fund as it appears too much of a coincidence he pulled out of purchasing Derby - the fit and proper test has already been passed.

 

However, I thought he was terminally ill?

All the clubs outside the top 6, maybe even some of them are likely to spend some of the next decade or two in the lowers leagues and none of them will achieve our effort of 2015/16 but plenty of people have bought them.

They own some of the land around it, when Clewes took over, I wondered why, but when I saw the original plans it was obvious why a property developer (albeit a fan and local) had bought them. The car showroom for example was earmarked for a big fan park. The original plans also included hotels etc on adjacent land.

 

No idea whether there's room for a small arena, but they certainly own a fair bit of the land that is not obviously 'theirs'. 

 

Not sure who owns the velodrome, but again, planners arms could be twisted to turn that into an arena or mix use (like Nottingham arena) I imagine.
