We've got scars from the last two seasons but we have to put it to bed. We all want a young energetic squad, but we also need a few experienced pro's to set standards and help the younger lads. Burns fits that profile. Ipswich fans adore him by all accounts too Exactly, people seem to forget the positive impact Phillips, GTF, Hammond, Wasilewski types had not too long ago 2
teblin Posted 5 August Posted 5 August The alves thing, we are all desperate for him to make it. But h s already been injured a couple of times in pre season hasn't he? 2

We have no confidence that when we sign a player of that experience and age now, that they won’t be overpaid or signed on for far too long 2

Worry he pushes Alves out from RW Alves’ needs to concentrate on being fit for more than 6 weeks first before worrying about his competition. Until then competition is a good thing. 7

Alves definitely cannot be relied upon to be our starting LW/RW or 10 without competent back up but it's unneccessary signings like this that get in the way of the likes of Riley Carr. The wages we'll end up paying him you could get Abdulmalik from Boreham Wood for £1m and wages IMO.

Needs a mixture of both. Problem we have had lately is that the senior pros have been poor choices and lazy arses.Wasnt a problem when we had hard bitten pros like Huth, Morgan, Kasper etc… 4

Carr would be better off starting every week somewhere in league two like Otchere if we can get him that loan Looks like Abdulmalik will cost more than £1m and have much better suitors than us anyway unfortunately The club not taking advantage of ESC spaces for non work permit players the past few seasons is really annoying We can only have 2 this summer I believe in league one and Bristric will be one and ideally you then go and get some big bastards at centre back and a cheeky winger from Asia / South America but we won’t really be able to Edited 5 August by moore_94 7

slymunn Posted 5 August Posted 5 August We've only got one outfielder who's over 30 in our squad If this means that we can move Mavididi/Hamza or similar out, I'm fine with it. 1

Popular Post FoxKent_88 Posted 5 August Popular Post Posted 5 August But he's blocking a pathway... he's too old.... Sorry, but anyone wanting to rely solely on youth and expecting our inexperienced academy lads to earn promotion at the first attempt (a non negotiable BTW) needs a reality check. Over the course of 46 games we will absolutely need senior professionals with relevant experience. RM has spoken about due diligence of bringing in players with good character that fit his plans. There will be plenty of game time for younger pros, especially if we are dominating games. It'll hopefully be the perfect environment for them. 6 2

McAteer is improving but he was still no Wes nor was £20m Egli. Good luck to him. Fond memories. Look up his goal with the outside of his right foot. (Beyond my ability to put it on here) And of course him and Chappers know each others game so very well. Fabulous player for Div 1. Hope he does well at the Foxes. "Chappers" and "Fabulous Player for Div 1" in one post...Jake is gonna have an aneurysm with this one @Ric Flair Edited 5 August by TheGoldenGod

Wes Burns is far lower risk than Carr, we’ve seen so far the academy kids that have been given a chance in the last 2 seasons haven’t taken it, Monga, Aluko, Page to an extent after a bright start - even Nelson wasn’t great last season 1
