fair enough agree with that tbh, should have brought Alves on earlier and Howell.

Should have won that today. And comfortably. 
 

Very surprised with MK Dons in that I thought they would apply themselves like Burton did, and very surprised to see them deep block and have 1 shot on target. 
 

Sammy came close a few times, but Bobby should have taken that chance and Cullen at the end should do better. Too many times the play was too cute. It was a day where an experienced player should have nailed a golden chance. 
 

Better performance, but ultimately that doesn’t matter when you are 5th from bottom. We have to find a way of winning these games.

Win the next 2-3 games and today's performance stands up a bit more, if we don't then it's just another game where we stink of a team who leaves no stone unturned in their pursuit of not winning football games.

 

I said it a lot under Enzo and it's been evident a lot so far under Martin but this style of football only really creates chances for on running players from deep in defence and midfield and these players are not natural finishers by and large. So we all bemoan how unfortunate it is to have that many shots and not score but fail to grasp that our game plan nullifies our actual goalscorers (if we have any or they actually play). 

 

Must rectify that.

It’s just further evidence Martin needs getting rid of, now, because this will continue. 80% possession and no victories…. Teams are letting us do it because they know we’re not going to score goals, so the lesser teams are gambling on grabbing a goal and then just sitting back. Whilst the more established league one teams will likely just bully us off the pitch. 
 

We’ve had a piss easy start and we’re making a mess of it, because we’re more bothered about possession than winning football games.

Agree with all that, BDR and Cullen should both score today, Sammy was excellent had a few speculative shots, but was he a prolific scorer  in the academy?

 

Alves was a threat in a short cameo, hopefully starts Tuesday with Howell.

 

Page is levels above Skipp and has to be the starter. 

 

Bristric links play well and looks promising, hopefully come October he's settled and scoring, but we definitely need another striker. 

 

It was a better performance, but MK are shit. We should have won, I think under Martin this season we'll be all fart and no shit!!

I know the bar is low. But I thought yesterday we would be in a battle. We weren’t.

Some promising aspects and it was a team selection better suited to this style.

 

However, it’s hard to be too positive when we have failed to beat any absolutely atrocious MK side. They had no press, no counter attacking threat and consistently sliced balls out for throws under no pressure. We should be sweeping these teams aside.

 

My main concern is that we are now a team of neat and tidy footballers, with little cutting edge. We are going to drop so many points because of this.

We won’t be getting promoted playing like this, we are going to be in league one for the foreseeable future imo.

They were a lot worse than I thought they would be to be fair. I expected them to be very physical and direct, and they weren’t really, very passive and a game we should have 100% won, but there’s just zero cutting edge, and extremely concerning Russell seems to think we don’t need another striker……

 

We’ve been relegated before having one of the better defensive records but not scoring enough goals.

basically none of those were from the striker though, you could have haaland in this team and he wouldn't score. there's the occasional crashing run and pull back (see cullens cockup in stoppage time) or cross for a winger coming in round the back (burns goal v Burton) but it's mostly edge of the box or further out pops. People say oh we could have won comfortably yesterday but for the post, the bar and a couple of good saves from their keeper, but those were all long rangers and good shots, not good chances. The only chances we created were Cullen's inability to kick a ball and bob the throbs pathetic lob.

As soon as Alves came on the tempo and number of attacks ramped up. Alves is a team player like Page. 

 

Sammy tends to hold onto the ball too long but I feel that’s it’s because he usually has donkeys in front of him.  A pass to Reid is either miss controlled or sent further back so he has to turn around again. He was getting into really good positions when Alves came on.

 

I’m not too fussed about Watson from what I’ve seen.  We haven’t got time to teach other teams players how to not be greedy.  Martin should’ve called him over and told him to stop constantly cutting inside and then occupying the space others were already in, unless that’s what his orders were. Either way it wasted too many opportunities, which the manager and player should’ve adapted to. 
 

The football isn’t pretty by choice rather than necessity and that’s worse. 
 

Martins hubris is sucking the life out of the game and scrapping draws at best so far. The foreshadowing and pattern recognition is correct sadly.

I’d like to see Bristric in the box fighting for loose balls and cut back crosses. I think Alves and Howell bring that, even Burns you would think but ****s know what he was on yesterday.

Cullen and Burns are pointless signings IMO they're similar profiles to BDCR and neither have been as good as him. 

 

We needed a physical box to box midfield and goalscorer.

If we were going for a meat and potato league 1 style with crosses constantly in the box to a big man then Burns makes sense.  Take someone at the end of his career and expect him to play a totally different way is nuts.  Yesterday he was playing with zero support or overlaps and Reid doing his best CM impression. 
 

We really need to be winning while Skipp is out so Martin doesn’t think that he is still a valid option.

Thomas not scoring over 8 is criminal for me too. I’ve been Thomas out for years now but it’s important to acknowledge when someone plays well too. He was easily an 8 out of 10 for me. Both centre backs had a great game yesterday.

Personally, I think the one area I’m struggling is why we can’t acknowledge that it was a good performance but the result was disappointing. Both things can be true.
