Given our last few windows, this has been a breath of fresh air. Even though we still have a couple of the old guard left, they’re heavily outnumbered. It’s the most positive I’ve felt about the club in a long time, and I’m actually surprised Top decided to reject Man U’s offer for Page.

Time will tell if we win promotion, but looks very good on paper. 

 

I think Faes will negotiate a contract settlement and become a free agent, so the only player left in the swamp is Okoli.

We chased the dream, enjoyed the ultimate ,then a manager who downed tools and poor signings inevitably sent us spiraling from one disaster to another. We won’t be the last club trying to push on only to find it all come crashing down. 
This rebuild was absolutely necessary, RM was not a popular choice but he is renowned for giving youth a chance which is an area where we are blessed. His style of football is to say the least behind the sofa stuff when passing around at the back ,but maybe just maybe he feels the lads can adapt to it and given practice and coaching it may prove fruitful long term. Our youngsters are very skillful and when we beat the press we look good. 
We may not be the next coming of Man City but maybe we can strive to be the equivalent at this level.

Hoping this has finally changed the alleged culture and attitude problems at Seagrave. The new broom has been impressive and, to be honest, very pleasantly surprised. At this moment I'm starting to regain some positivity towards the club.

Yeah it's actually been decent. Shame the Faes deal collapsed as he's the last real bit of the festering swamp left.

 

Martin really has zero excuses now.

Not much money. And even if they turn out to be not much cop (too early to be sure yet) if they're a couple of experienced players who aren't twats to have in a squad with loads of promising youngsters, they're probably worth it.

 

Say what you will about Russell Martin, he seems to genuinely want to use and develop young players, and also to want a squad that isn't full of negative influences.

Think the main thing is most of the senior players we seem to have bought in come with reputations for leadership and setting high standards; Lundstram, O’Hora, Cullen, Burns, Chaplin. Compare this to the likes of Ayew, Winks, Vesty, Mavididi, Choudruy. None of us will really know the impact they had on the squad but from the outside it never looked positive.

 

Then throw in proper senior squad status for some of our own youngsters and some good Prem loans and on paper we might just have pulled it off! All while cutting the wage bill and bringing in some decent fees. It just can’t be a coincidence that it’s happened in the same window that McCarron joined.

I’m more encouraged by the outgoings than incomings as time will have to tell on those.

However getting rid of Mavididi, Skipp, Winks, Vestergaard, Kristiansen, Choudhury as well getting good money for Fatawu and Monga is far beyond what I thought would happen, especially when combined with the likes of Ayew and Daka contacts expiring. 
 

It’s the youth academy lads who have shined the most however and I do think we have the basis to have a decent season which is more than I would have said in June

The main objective was to clear the decks which JM has done - bar Faes, which you'd think something will happen in the next few days for the sake of his own career. 

 

I think this window has been much better than I'd expected, plus Martin is going with the Academy boys and following up on what he said he'd do, which is the opposite of prior managers. Team needs time to settle now and build some momentum up to Christmas.

It was so important to get rid of the players that have been complicit in our demise and are essentially addicted to losing. 
 

It’s just Thomas & Reid left in the side now and to be fair to Thomas he hasn’t been that bad. 
 

Hopefully Faes gets a move, can’t see Okoli going anywhere though

So do Top & Rudkin get some goodwill in the bank for appointing McCarron, if all the turnaround is solely credited to just him?

Not really as their hand was forced - they should of appointed a competent DOF a long time ago, it's about 5 seasons too late.

Does feel like we’ve gone with cardiffs strat of last season, I think there’s plenty to be positive about and if Martin gets a few wins on the spin, I think a lot of us won’t be as negative

Time will tell but I think we did well with who came in and more importantly who we got rid of. 
What a surprise our younger players have looked impressive. 
If only they’d have been given more opportunities last season.

I think it’s been a good enough window. My main worry now is goalkeeping department. Everything else ok as long as we can keep them together.

Surprised that big money was turned down for Page as a fire sale seemed likely moving towards a change of ownership. 

 

The clearing out of the Relegation Rat's has been brutal and beyond expectation.

I always felt that the last time we went to league one ended up being one of the best things that happened to the club.

 

It seemed disastrous at the time but we drained the swamp and started to build a club we could get behind again.

 

Few more needing shifted and hopefully we can offload via a loan to someone.

 

Pretty happy with how it's going so far.

Not even close for me. They’ve put the club on the brink of administration and football obscurity through years of incompetence. One decent appointment doesn’t paper of the cracks of the damage they’ve done to the club. It’d be like a serial killer telling the police where he hid one of the bodies and expecting a pardon for his crimes.

No, ok window but time will tell. They have achieved nothing positive yet.
