Fryatt Signs

Recommended Posts

It does seem strange that there are hardly any stories about this. All the papers have briefly mentioned that he will be signing today but I would have thought it would be all over the internet on websites like SkySports, but I can't find anything.

The main factor for Fryatt is that he won't have to move house. He was born in Nuneaton so there is a chance he's a Leicester fan anyway. Plus last night's performance might well have a bearing on his decision. Have Preston even made a bid? They are better than us at the minute, but that's because we are under-achieving. We have a better ground, more fans and have a culture where young players get a chance at our club.

Please Fryatt, sign on the dotted line.

DER DER DER DER ............................... MATTY FRYATT, DER DER DER DER ...................... MATTY FRYATT

The fact that its not in the papers and media could be a good sign,

if you read this article (http://football.guardian.co.uk/Columnists/Column/0,4284,1681617,00.html) it shows how agents use the media to advertise their players, maybe he has made his mind up and letting the clubs battle it out,

The other big factor is that he is injured at the moment (I think??) complicating the medical,

or maybe none of the above and he is checking out several clubs!! we will have to wait and see.

I hope we manage to sign him seems to be a great player with alot of potential,

We'll certainly have a quality strike force in League One next season! Hume and Fryatt :D

Don't be so negative - did you watch the game last night?

There's no way we should go down and with De Vries, Hammond, Hume and Fryatt we'll have a quality strike force that will have the potential to propell us at least to the play offs next season if we can stop making so many mistakes at the back.

I was joking! But anyway, we've seen this all before when we demolished Sheff United. I hope this will kick start our season, but last night just showed how poor we really have been and how much we are under-achieving. It's time for Levein to get nasty with the players and demand this on a regular basis, everyone can get motivated for a big match but it's games on a tuesday night down in the middle of nowhere where the players need to be just as focused and confident to get us some points. We have 4 away games in the nest 5 games and one win in the cup doesn't change how disgusting our away form is. If we lose the 4 away games like we have with our past 6 away games then we could well be bottom of the league and we'll face a massive challenge to haul ourselves to safety.

Having said that this performance along with a new striker and the impending return of Wesolowski should make us climb the table and even a top half finish could be possible if we play like we should do.

i take it you missed the previous eight games?

No - but I'm convinced we can turn the corner - every team has a bad run every so often (and I know ours has been worse than most) but if you have good players (which we have) things turn around and sometimes it can just take one good results to drag you out of it an kickstart a good run.

Remember when O'Neil first signed and took us completely out of contention for promotion then 1 good result and we shot up the table and nabbed the last play off spot on the last day? I'm not saying we're going to do that (obviously) - just that a poor run of results can change quickly

from walsall's website, says he is quite pacey

THE 19-year-old front-man enjoyed a prolific couple of seasons at youth team level, before breaking into the first-team in 2003/2004.

During the 2002/2003 campaign, Fryatt's goalscoring prowess earned him a reserve team place and after continuing to find the net at that level, the club took the somewhat unusual step of awarding him a professional contract at the end of his first year of a three-year Scholarship.

Blessed with good skill, pace and sharpness in front of goal, the Nuneaton-born youngster is expected to carve out a good career for himself in the game.

In 2003/2004 he earned rave reviews in what was his first taste of Football League action, firstly whilst on loan at Carlisle United, where he scored his first professional goal, and then during his time back at Bescot Stadium where he opened his Saddlers' scoring account in a 2-1 away victory over Preston North End.

With the weight on expectancy on his shoulders going into the 2004/2005 season, the level-headed youngster responded well, scoring some impressive goals as he finished top scorer and earning International recognition for England at Under-19 level.

After notching a total of 15 goals in 2004/2005, Fryatt walked away with the Player of the Season award and won the Goal of the Season prize for his superb long-range volley against Huddersfield in January 2005, the game in which he bagged his first senior hat-trick.

He will be hoping that his tremendous progress can continue in 2005/2006.

From the Daily Express's match report

"Former Hearts boss Levein has been stunned to find himself sucked into a grim relegation scrap and any hopes of a rest from the rigours of the Championship were swiftly extinguished.

At least Levein has been handed a survival fund of £750,000 for Matty Fryatt and the Walsall striker will undoubtedly be charged with the task of saving the Foxes – just one point off the drop zone – from relegation. Fryatt is set to sign today but the crushing need for his goals was not so evident last night."

Seems pretty certain he'll be coming here.. I just wish they'd finalise the deal already though, seems to have dragged on for ages. Even though because of his injury I suppose it doesn't really matter if we get him in very quickly..

The Foxes boss has made no secret of his desire to bring new blood to the club during the transfer window.

And the City boss is now playing the waiting game ahead of Saturday's championship clash against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

He said: "It's out of my hands now. I have made an offer to both the club and the player and I hope to have more news on the situation tomorrow."

Tickets for the Owls clash are currently on general sale at the Walkers Stadium ticket office, priced at £17 for adults and £10 senior citizens/under 16s. Any unsld tickets will be available to purchase from Hillsborough on the day - but will cost an extra £1

Craig sounded a bit frustrated on the radio when he said that. Clearly it's taking longer than he expected.

He usually does sound frustrated and bored, so let's hope it doesn't mean Fryatt is pissing us about.

Alot of Levein's transfers are long, drawn out processes. Just look at Henderson, Gilbert and Gerrbrand as examples.

I'm not surprised levein being frustrated, days means training

and if fryatt has a change of mind, it gives levein less time to look at other options

with a huge game against sheff wed coming up, he doesn't need this really

Fryatt's injured at the minute anyway. But I am starting to get a bad feeling, Lovell did this to us in the summer. Having said that he's turned out to be crap for Aberdeen.

Are you sure he's injured? maybe they're just saying that because he's in transfer talks, clubs have a habbit of doing this nowadays
