Anyone seen the resident evil trailer?

It looks good, even though it is a complete departure from the video games and will be it’s own self contained story.

I like Zach Creggar and hope this will be another hit movie.

Get the feeling it will be a film where they should have just named it something else rather than trying to tie it into Resident Evil

From reading Zach’s comments, it seems like he was into the video games and is taking the horror aspect of the games and just doing his own thing, I think fans of the games would like that, and not get what the previous movies were, over complicated action movies trying to find a cure and dealing with clones. With how barbarian and weapons were, I am hoping this one will be another success and I bet he is hoping as well, from looking at the budget of this movie, if this flops it could be bad for his career.

Apex on Netflix.

Run of the mill chase type thriller.

Theron was good and Taron but on a half decent aussie accent but a forgettable film.

6/10.

Wife wasn't complaining though 😅

Eden on prime. Enjoyed it, good cast and the setting was exceptional. Based on a true story about three groups of people who decided to live on the Galápagos Islands.

Made me laugh when he was dancing around, best part of the film I thought.

Watched it last night.

I actually hadn't seen any action/suspense sorts of films in awhile, so it was entertaining enough.

6 outta 10 sounds about right.

Just watched Beast (the Idris Elba one).

Totally reliant on the characters acting in the dumbest way possible, especially the game warden who apparently had no wilderness survival smarts.

Also I predicted the ending within the first 15 mins. The set up was painfully obvious.

This'll be superb

Train to Busan is one of the best zombie movies, so should be good.

I am looking forward to The Odyssey but I'm not sure about the thick New York/Boston accents everyone seems to have in this new trailer. What's that about?

Interesting article (I thought) about this on IGN.

What's Up With Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey Trailer Accents?

It’s a very bold/confident creative choice/gamble.

Most films like this would go for a distinctly British accent as that’s become the norm for historical/fantasy films. It very, very rarely works with American accents (see The Eagle, 2011 or Denzel Washington in Gladiator II) but can do if it’s highly stylised (think Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet or Denzel Washington in Macbeth).

Nolan likes to try something new or different with his films - no war film had a structure like Dunkirk and his entire 270 page Oppenheimer script was written entirely in first person. His Interstellar script was wildly different from his brother’s script when it was a Spielberg project.

He’s probably done it to put an ancient story into a more modern context in the hopes of attracting a wider audience and to make it a more immersive experience. Whether it will work is a different question. I think he’ll pull it off, personally.

I think the IGN article is very right. Pretending that ancient Greeks spoke like Elizabethans or the middle-classes of 100 years ago is no more accurate than saying they spoke like us or Americans. We just don't know, though it certainly wasn't English in the first place.

If you wanted to be really arthouse you could've done it entirely in Greek and subtitled, though that still wouldn't be accurate.

So long as they're not talking about "garbage" or "faucets" or "sidewalks", then fine.

I like Christopher Nolan's output a lot, second behind Denis Villeneuve for me, personally.

With the Odyssey, I think he's produced another dud. If you know the Critical Drinker, look up his trailer review. I share those sentiments.

The casting doesn't sit right with me, this film lacks grandeur, class, heavyweights, whatever you want to call it – none of these names impress me. Matt Damon as the protagonist? I'm not buying it.

And then there's the questions surrounding the historical accuracy.

And the use of modern lingo. "Daddy". WTF?

Apparently, this adaptation is based on a feminist's interpretation of the original story. Emily Wilson is her name.

DEI continues to ruin movie-making.

And that's a shame.

Going back in time...

Charley-Varrick-poster.jpg&f=1&nofb=1&ip

Charley Varrick (1973) is absolute gold.

Don Siegel knew how to tell slick, captivating stories.

Just enough material, not too much backstory, just enough information. Very economical.

And it's always great to see actors going against their type. Walter Matthau is incredible in this.

Totally agree. Shout out for his 1964 version of The Killers with Lee Marvin, Angie Dickinson and Ronald Reagan of all people. Of course Don Siegel was something of a mentor to Clint Eastwood.

That film is on my Blu-ray wish list.

Hoping for a 4K version any time soon.

My (Polish) brother in law was complaining the other day about the rumoured casting of Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy cos she’s not white.

Bruv. Her dad was the God of Thunder who disguised himself as a swan to court a princess. She literally hatched out of an egg.
