Went to see Toy Story 5, still think they should have wrapped up at 3. But anyway thought I'd go and see it and see if was an improvement of Toy Story 4. To be honest I actually enjoyed it, I think it was good they touched on the problem of children using ipad devices it can effect them. Some great messages in the movie. Its not the best film in the franchise but not the worst. For me this will be last the Toy story movie i see at the cinema, time this great pixar franchise was ended. Sadly we know the disney will keep milking this franchise.

Also on another note, not so much a spoiler but I'm not quite sure why Woody is brought back. He has little to do and having watched Toy Story 4 that seemed to be Woody's ending.

A reasonable 7/10, parents and kids a like will enjoy this. Probably last Toy Story film I will watch at the cinema

Mel Brooks turns 100 today. A good reason to revisit Blazing Saddles, History of the World, or any of his other gems.

Watched Obsession yesterday. Liked it a lot.

Inde Navarette is definitely the star of the show, being unbelievably unpredictable. But she's also aided by some great editing and creepy sound effects.

However, I knew exactly what would happen in the "car talk" scene. lol

Anyone seen Disclosure Day yet?

It's been getting slated from what I've seen but I quite enjoyed it. It's far from a classic though and felt like it couldn't quite decide whether to be a serious sci-fi/Alien film, or one that's a bit more silly and childish. It's probably somewhere in between.

Worth a watch but wouldn't rush to the cinema.

Got Odyssey booked in at the iMAX next.

Kind of like ET then.

Hmm, it's been a long time since I've seen it tbf, but I'd say that firmly planted itself in being a fun, silly, family friendly film. Disclosure Day doesn't really do that.

Lots of dislikes for Disclosure Day. I don't want to spoil it too much, but the movie promises more than it can keep.

Spielberg just isn't doing well any longer, I think he hit his peak about 20, 25 years ago.

Had a few spare hours yesterday morning so went to the Showcase to see Obsession again and also for the air conditioning. Phenomenal physical performance from Inde Navarette.

Saw Maternal Instinct on Netflix the other day. A true crime film with one of the most disturbing human beings I have ever heard off. I am still completely gobsmacked here a few days later.

Heat 2 announced.

Featuring Christian Bale, Leonardo DiCaprio and Stephen Graham, and potentially Adam Driver as the antagonist.

At some point you have to stop it with these sequels. No original ideas floating around, really?

In fairness Mann has lived with these characters for pretty much 50 years. He wrote the first draft in 1979 and pitched it as a TV show (and if he's anything like me he'll have had nuggets of ideas that went into Heat dating back 20 years. Pain). I'm far happier to see the work of a dedicated auteur expand the world of his original idea than other types of sequels. I doubt it will be a cash grab like other long term returns seem to be. I think of it a bit like Tolkien taking 17 years to expand Middle Earth, Irvine Welsh writing Porno 10 years later or James Cameron expanding on the world of Terminator 8 years later.

Enjoyed Project Hail Mary although surprised to see it on streaming so soon

It was showing at a few places as of a few weeks ago (a couple in Leicester/Loughborough Odeons next week). I do wish we could go back to strict timelines for longer cinema windows and not going on streaming/dvd for a minimum 6 months.
