Guesty Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 Is quite sad, i never really enjoyed watchin animal programmes till he came along
Daggers Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 Clever and mad as anything, the way the world should be. Sad news
john_lcfc Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 he takes on 1000s of crocodiles and gets killed by a sting ray. very sad. RIP
Shum Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 Is this for real? This is horrible news. It's for real
Stuliasz Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 It's for real Wow. I'm actually gutted Went to his zoo a few weeks ago, he'd built up a fantastic place there and also dived on the barrier reef where I saw a stingray. He must have accidentally got way to close to these creatures because they are pretty shy things and shoot off at the drop of a hat. Really feel for his wife and young kids. RIP Steve. Legend.
Ricey Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 Jeez thought this thread was a wndup, don't know why I'm so shocked it's true as he did some crazy things but as it was 'TV' you never expected him to be killed. RIP, anyone so enthuisatic about the natural world as my respect.
Austin Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 He dedicated his life to the preservation and education about all animals. It just shows how much he really cares. Compare that to the idiots and lowlifes around the world torturing animals .. RIP STEVE O R.I.P. - A tremendously great loss wether some realize it or not.
JadeFalcon Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 R.I.P good bloke whole planet will miss that guy i can tell u
oundlefox Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 Gutted. The guy was a proper character who loved what he did. He certainly got me watching with his unique style. RIP
Jon the Hat Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 Didn't like his style personally, but had a lot of admiration for his work and passion. Let's hope his team at Australia zoo and beyond can continue the good work. Cheers to you Mate.
C-man Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 "It is believed that Mr Irwin collapsed after being stung by a stingray at Batt Reef off Port Douglas at about 1100 (0100 GMT)," a police statement quoted by AFP news agency said. I went there this summer, and i went snorkelling in the Great Barrier reef, so thank god there were no stingrays about! RIP Irwin.
Katy Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 Didn't like his style personally, but had a lot of admiration for his work and passion. Let's hope his team at Australia zoo and beyond can continue the good work. Cheers to you Mate. Same here. I feel for his wife and very young children. What a terrible way to die Rest in Peace.
Jon the Hat Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 I went there this summer, and i went snorkelling in the Great Barrier reef, so thank god there were no stingrays about! RIP Irwin. I've dived with Rays a number of times, and they really aren't a problem. From what I hear the reason he died was that the spike either peirced his heart or got very close. That is probably a world first, and only happened because he got so close. As always for recreational diving, look but don't touch and you'll be safe.
Ric Flair Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 Awful news, it's really upset me. R.I.P. Steve, your work will never be forgotten.
