Guest Gist Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Them views certainly don't make me feel any better, some of them even sound quite like what Kelly did.
l444ry Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Big worry that it's not for just 5 games otherwise why would Worthington come here? Hope I'm wrong but Mandaric seems to still be a poor judge of a manager. Sad day for Leicester City in my opinion.
lookwhaticando Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 So at Norwich NW has only been better by Mike Newell and this includes a season where Norwich were relegated. NW got Norwich promoted top of the league beating the 2nd placed by 8 clear points. So he has done it before and has a half decent record so he is worth a chance. And half of Mike Newell's managerial reign must surely have been in League One.
l444ry Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 lots of opinions flying round, who likes different managers. Here are their stats : Nigel Worthington Win % Blackpool 32.83 Norwich City 40.71 Leicester City 00.00 Bryan Robson Win % Middlesbrough 40.44 Bradford City 25.00 West Bromwich Albion 23.45 Chris Coleman Win % Fulham 34.65 Mike Newell Win % Hartlepool United 44.82 Luton Town 41.50 Rob Kelly Win % Leicester City 32.81 So at Norwich NW has only been better by Mike Newell and this includes a season where Norwich were relegated. How can you compare a win in the Championship or lower with a win in the Premier League?
Geo V Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 It`ll do for now. Its strange to get a manager in on a temprorary basis with 5 games to go. Maybe MM though Kelly would take us down? Wortho can hardly turn us into world beaters in a month without spending any money. Any positive reaction from the players wont really mean much because even the lamest footballers can play well when a new boss comes in. Im hoping Wortho is no more than a stop=gap. I hope MM is now looking for the right man on a permanent basis but I am worried that he has told Wortho to keep us up and he gets the job because there seems little to gain for Wortho if he is just turning up to help us out. Time will tell and it now means we will continue the thread a day on the manager situation
Sods Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 This is my assumption of the future. Obviously this will never happen but i want to be cool Nigel Worthington on the up Win % Blackpool 32.83 Norwich City 40.71 Leicester City 48.00 Bryan Robson on the down Win % Middlesbrough 40.44 Bradford City 25.00 West Bromwich Albion 23.45 Chris Coleman Win % Fulham 34.65 Mike Newell on the down Win % Hartlepool United 44.82 Luton Town 41.50 Rob Kelly Win % Leicester City 32.81
Foxhateram Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 I emailed Tim Davies yesterday at 13:42 telling him none of us want Kelly in charge anymore and a day later he's gone. maybe your email topped it off feller. cus i sent myn in weeks ago, i also sent him an email a day before leveins exit and i also thow im sad to say it now, sent an email to him a day b4 kelly was appointed So maybe tim does listen to us, i sourced thos site in all those emails too. so i think we may have just a lil power over the man um worthington well is all i can say because norwich under him were so boring it was unbeleivable but it got them promoted so............... yer i remain undecided over this atm, althow my MSN name says otherwise . lets just hope his honeymoon period keeps us up thats all i care about.
lookwhaticando Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 It can't be that hard to tempt a manager back to club management after he's spent six months out of the game. Even if it's for just a few games. Offer him a few quid for his effort, and the chance to 'save' the club from the slide (whether we're on one or not). You don't have to seriously consider giving him a longer term deal, you could perhaps just hint that the right results could land him the job. Just don't define 'right results' publicly - perhaps Nigel has been told the job's his if he wins convincingly enough, but Milan rates 'convincingly' as a series of 3-0 wins. At the minute, I don't think Nigel's here for the long run... I think he's here for five games. For now...

Hope I'm wrong but Mandaric seems to still be a poor judge of a manager. Sad day for Leicester City in my opinion. Maybe he hasn't been offered much else? It makes sense for him to take this chance while it is avaliable and he knows it's only 5 games to prove himself and he will receive funds for new players next season if he does.
Jon the Hat Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Maybe MM though Kelly would take us down? As he said he isn;t one to sit around and do nothing, he would rather get someone else in than sit on his hands. I have to say I think Kelly had lost the players totally. Anyone is an improvement. Bring on the Purple patch.

It's a brilliant opportunity for Worthington. Can't dispute that. But he's been unemployed for months now and linked with every job that's shown it's face. Sod's law that Leicester turn out to be the mugs that see something in him that all the others did not!!

All seems a bit strange to me,Wortho can't be judged on what he doe's in the next 5 games,he wont even meet the players until tomorrow so he has 48hrs to his first match, then 72hrs till the second after that he has 3 matches left, in all probability we would have scraped the points we needed whoever was in charge! MM has already made the decision about next season IMO and I fear we have our man already

He's been having a rest or so he say's so. From Sky Nigel Worthington has revealed he turned down two other Championship clubs before coming to Leicester City's rescue. The former Northern Ireland international has taken over at The Walkers Stadium until the end of the season after Rob Kelly was dismissed. It is Worthington's first managerial post since he left Norwich City back in October and enjoyed a break from the game. During his sabbatical, he was offered the chance to take charge of two unnamed second tier clubs, but declined the opportunities. Worthington explained his reasons for those rejections and is now relishing the challenge of steering Leicester away from the bottom three. "I've had two other job offers in that period of time," Worthington told Sky Sports News. "They were two clubs in the Championship and I've reluctantly said no. "Part of the reason for that is I've been 26, 27 years consistently on the go as a player and then straight in to management. "I felt the time was right to have a little period of time completely out of it to enjoy some family life. "It's recharged my batteries - mentally and physically - and here I am ready for what is a great challenge and I'm looking forward to it."
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Let's not forget, they both hail from Northern Ireland. I think they both actually hail from Ulster. I think the comparison with O'Neil ends there though.
Monk Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Well. Step 1 - Kelly is gone. Good. Milan HAD to do something this week, and glad to see he has As for FW I'll give the guy a chance. One chance. IF we go down or just survive by the skin of our teeth, then I want him OUT - no questions asked. I'm looking for at least 4 points off the next 3 games, which would be enough to see us safe. Ask me in 2 weeks if I think he's a good choice. <_<

If so, can't blame him for that!! Still disappointed with this development though. What do you reckon to him then DavieG?
Stevosevic Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 i have lost some faith in Milan for this appointment, terrible choice, i am really gutted by this and hope Milan doesnt even consider giving the job full time to this muppet.
blue blood Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 IMO milan realised leicester can really go down this term, he has acted - which is more that davies would do, i think appointing worth is only to keep leicester up, milan realises he has more experience than kelly. Milan has some knowlwdge of football and success on the field can only come from appointing the right man and giving him atleast 3+ years at the realm. I think in his heart he knows wortho will not be the man for him to commit to the hot seat long term, 5 matches... a season, maybe. longer than that im sure he knows he is not sure and he realy must look that far ahead. Based on the fact since martin weve had, peter, dave, howard, mickey, craig robert AND nigel - in a nutshell we really do need continunity, this has to be at to top of the agenda in looking for a manager. Someone unproven? im not sure, some over the hill? im not sure. some one in between - with some success and of a decent age i think i will give my backing to.
Ricey Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Glad Kelly has gone, glad Worthington is in providing it's only till the end of the season....even if he wins these 5 games I don't want him in charge next season at any cost.

What do you reckon to him then DavieG? At the moment I find the idea of him underwhelming and total unimaginative, very unMM. I hope when MM say's he learnt a few things it has taken away his maverick approach. Let's face it the chances of LCFC winning anything any day soon is more than just remote so I was really looking forward to an exciting roller coaster ride. Worthington conjures up images of

The Stig Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Good decision Milan well done, RK needed to go and its nice to see we have a chairman who takes action unlike the old board who would have left him in charge till 2009, I think a change was needed and it always boosts the players ni matter who the manager is, I think we will now get at least one win but its in 3 or 4 games time if we are still winning that we need to judge. I think he is a good manager but i have to say I expected better form Milan. I think he will do for this season as he's all there is but I think we need someone better as I think he'll do well, but once things start to go wrong he wont be able to pick them up again, as was the case with Adams, Levien and Kelly. I may be and hope i am wrong and he does do well but Id just like a gaffer at the club that can give the players a real bollocking when neccesary, Nigel Worthington doesn't strike me as being able to do that. If he is appointed permanantly though i would like us and the rest of the fans to really get behind him and if things do go slightly wrong reallly back and support him and the players and help them get through it. More importantly lets get behind Wortho and the players now, lets not have a go at him before he's had any time with the players, calling him a muppet when hes done nothing yet won't help, and its these type of people who just wont support the team no matter what they do and are never happy that make the Walkers Stadium as non atmospheric as it is today. COME ON LEICESTER, WE CAN STAY UP, GOOD LUCK NIGEL.
AyewJoking Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Ding dong the witch is dead. Was Wortho mentioned in all the potential new managers threads? I dont remember seeing his name.
holly Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 obviously will give him backing for the remaining 5 games but i would love to see coleman bought in as permenant manager during the summer. Think he has done a fab job @ Fulham
Stevosevic Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 today went from a good day, to a brilliant day when hearing RK was sacked, then a terrible day finding out Nigel muppet Worthington was here, even it is just five games, it better be.
