Gumbs, top-scored for the seconds yesterday against Essex. Hill, Trevaskis, Scriven and Wood also playing. Xander Silverwood, son of Chris Silverwood, playing for Essex.

Maybe the way forward is to produce slow, stodgy wickets for T20s at GR. In a low scoring game, it gives the underdog a better chance of winning, I think. If yesterday's pitch had been a road, it's very unlikely we would have outscored their batting line up.

I can see the benefits but I wonder about the impact it'd have on the team's mentality. Trying to bore snd grind our way to survival in the Championship hasn't worked so far.

From an entertainment point of view, I'd be all for it though - much prefer a T20 game with bowlers on top to a slogfest!

Cox will be hard to replace, he has excellent glovework.

Duke at Yorkshire is out of contract, wonder if he long term could fill that spot.

I know he’s much younger, but better than Tattersall?

Would rather keep Cox to be honest who looks as if he’s still got a couple of good years in him.

Oh a million percent want to keep Cox. He has been superb for us.

Not 100% but I think Duke pushed Tatts to number 3 in line on the gloves at Yorkshire, hence likely him coming to us.

But I like Tattersall a lot, I like him as a batsman too and seems a good bloke.

Cox is surely one of our most valuable and reliable players. Superb behind the stumps and one of the top scorers in the club in both red and white ball. I can’t believe they wouldn’t offer him a deal for a couple of years.

Cox is just good vibes to have around the club, seems like a very likeable character and his batting has been superb for us. I’d honestly try and keep all apart from Mike. Hull is talented, he’s just going through a bit of a duff patch and has lost confidence.

Ahmed took 6-34 in the Lions game vs SA A.

Looks an interesting pitch for a ODI game in England.

Shame it's not a red ball because he could replace Stokes as the all-rounder.

Just watched the wickets, it is turning but he seems to have come back from India having a much better length.

I've heard Warwickshire are looking at Ben Cox.

Davies is already a very good keeper batter so he’d probably have to settle for fringe/second choice if he did but I guess they can offer way more money than us.

Seems like Keith Piper, our old coach and Warwickshire legend with local links (Matt Pipers half brother) has passed away :(

Very sad. Had no idea about that relationship.

He didn't - that's his brother. Been at Leicestershire for a long time (since he was 13) and netted with Leicestershire and Notts when he was 9-13.

No he was at Notts academy until he was 13 and and was already a huge prospect he bowled Ben Stokes in the nets when he was 11.Left Notts because his dad had a fall out with the Notts coaching staff.Notts still receive payment when he plays for England.

A fallout so terrible his other brother is there?

Money every time he plays is one thing but ultimately he is ours, we gave him his first class debut, I’ve read he was class with the kids on Sunday, he always bigs us up in the media. Whatever happens, he’s a Leicestershire academy graduate and he’s our bloody legend. Even people like Broad that pretend they were Notts born and bred can’t take away that it was the fields of Grace Road that made him.

There can be no doubts about his attitude after Sunday. His enthusiasm was a delight to see
