Manwell Pablo Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 Even Gary Kelly's getting out while he can to save anymore embarrasment :laugh:Here I think he's done that for Leeds United, they needed him off the wage bill despretley.
davieG Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 I think he's done that for Leeds United, they needed him off the wage bill despretley. I think he's out of contract anyway.
syston_fox Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 I think he's out of contract anyway. I can't believe he's only 32!! Thought he was nearer to the 40 mark now
blue blood Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 is there not a rule against the owner of a company that goes bankrupt being bought from administrators by that same old owner? for example ken bates bankrupting leeds then buying them back???????? odd!
James. Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 is there not a rule against the owner of a company that goes bankrupt being bought from administrators by that same old owner?for example ken bates bankrupting leeds then buying them back???????? odd! I expect that given it wasn't Bates himself that went bankrupt he is free to do what he wants.
Daggers Posted 4 May 2007 Author Posted 4 May 2007 No one went bankrupt. They entered administration. Administration is a procedure under the insolvency laws of a number of common law jurisdictions which functions as a rescue mechanism for insolvent companies and allows them to carry on running their business. The process — an alternative to liquidation — is often known as going into administration. Wiki
Daggers Posted 4 May 2007 Author Posted 4 May 2007 As far as I understand it, the sale to Bates' new company from his old company could still be blocked by other creditors objecting to the manner of him trying to write off the debts. I don't think this story is over yet.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 I'm looking forward to the Warnock (et al) rant.
Matt Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 I'm looking forward to the Warnock (et al) rant. Except he probably won't. Even though IM(bias)O this is even more "immoral" (As Warnock called our situation)
lookwhaticando Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 Disaster... I wanted them to get the ten point hit next term. Wankers.
act smiley Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 I dunno, it could be even better if the results go in an unlikely manner that would have kept them up! Not going to happen mind, but hey
BigGibbo Posted 5 May 2007 Posted 5 May 2007 Who cares, Leeds are in Administation, Quality day today correct sir B-E-A-utiful day 2day or yestaday now
Ultra Posted 5 May 2007 Posted 5 May 2007 Bates could easily have saved them from administration. But he chose not to. He will now be even more hated in Leeds than the Glazers are in Manchester!
Simi Posted 5 May 2007 Posted 5 May 2007 Apology from LeedsLeeds have written a letter of apology to Town fans over the actions of some of their supporters during the 1-1 draw at Elland Road at the weekend. Leeds' Chief Executive, Shaun Harvey writes: "To all Ipswich Town supporters who attended Elland Road on Saturday 28th April, 2007. "I am writing on behalf of both the club and the vast majority of Leeds supporters to apologise for the actions of a minority of our supporters whose behaviour, during the pitch invasion that occurred, was indefensible. "To all those Ipswich supporters who were injured by the actions of our so-called supporters we hope you make a speedy recovery. And to those for whom the experience of witnessing the events is giving them second thoughts about attending fixtures to watch Ipswich away from Portman Road in the future then please be assured that what you saw on Saturday was the exception not the rule. "The actions of a few are condemned by both the club and the majority of our supporters. "I think the reaction both during the incident and post-match from the majority of genuine Leeds fans spoke volumes for their thoughts as to the behaviour of the minority that get this club a bad name. "While we will not meet next season in the league, we look forward to you all returning to Elland Road in the future where the welcome will be a warm one and not a repeat of Saturday. "The club will be working with West Yorkshire Police in the forthcoming weeks to identify as many of those as possible involved on Saturday and when they are caught, can expect a lengthy ban from Elland Road. "Once again, I apologise for the actions of a minority of our supporters that spoilt the day."
