Geo V Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Im not too sure who has and who hasnt been mentioned recently but Claus Jensen was apparently released by Fulham and may head back home to Denmark. I think he is 30 and the problem is he has suffered from injuries but I have always thought that he oozes class and at this level would make 10 goals a season easy. I would have thought he was out of our reach but if it is true that he may head back to Denmark, surely we have a chance of competing with them lot?!
SystonFox Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 he is too hot and cold for me Lee7. can do 4 good bits in a match but 8 bad bits too.
Guest Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Fair play meadwell - give him a slap. I agree with the Claus Jensen thing. For years I'd wished City were in a position to sign him so I'd be well pleased if Milan and MA had a look at boy wonder. He plays in an excellent free kick and scores the odd goal as well as having the sort of vision no city player has had in my memory (even muzzy). Andy Coal's not a bad pick too and he defo has more hunger than fowler but i guess which would be better would depend on likely first choice partner up front

Rasiak would be right up my street but i best not shout that to loud as this is the wrong section of the forum.
General Smuts Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 I'll have one Claus Jensen, and one Robbie Fowler to go please. Check please.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 Robbie Fowler v Andy Cole - a comparison Provides amusing goal celebrations? 1-0 to Fowler Class in a glass 2-0 to Fowler Used to play for Manchester Utd (bad thing) 3-0 Fowler Goals to shot ratio 4-0 to Fowler Likieness to steal car radio's on the side 4-1 to Fowler Ability to make plasters on your face look cool 5-1 to Fowler (And he did it a lot better than that nelly elephant kiddy!) So there you have it - Fowler is God, Cole is - errr not. Oh and I wouldn't be suprised if Cole is in fact as expensive if not more expensive than Fowler.
Daggers Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 Play more matches - Cole Score more goals - Cole More professional attitude - Cole Better fitness - Cole Less injuries - Cole Better desire - Cole Cheapest option - Cole
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 Daggers - you're no fun! But we'll get neither - can imagine Bryan Robson may have a punt on Cole - unless he manages to steel Kevin Phillips from West Brom - now there's an interesting one, might be worth trying to get in on that action!

No no no no no. no. really. no.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 No no no no no.no. really. no. Why not? I reckon Phillips would be quality. Still clearly good enough for a season or two at this level, despite his age.
meadwell5 Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Heidur Helguson would not be a bad buy, he is not wanted by Fulham. Would pay around 1.2m. Good strong forward who i could see forming a good partnership with HUME.

Would pay around 1.2m.Good strong forward who i could see forming a good partnership with HUME. Good call and he's meant to be on his way back to Watford. If they sign DJ will they still want Heidar? If not then i'd steam right in there, he's capable of 15-20 goals at this level and would fit in to the style of football we'll play next season.

Still better than DJ.
Ric Flair Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Heider's said to cost around 2 mil though.Still better than DJ. Absolutely, he's worth the £2 million as well. Dudley ain't.
meadwell5 Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Heider's said to cost around 2 mil though.Still better than DJ. Says on teamtalk watford have made a 1.3m offer. I would guess 1.5m would be about right!
Geo V Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Why not?I reckon Phillips would be quality. Still clearly good enough for a season or two at this level, despite his age. I think we need a target man and I am not convinced that another small striker like DJ or Phillips would suit us with Hume in the side. It looks like Chambers will be playing RB and maybe Kaebi RW so I dont see a midfield role for Hume and want him to have a proper run in the team with better players. Helguson would be a decent buy IMO.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Helguson would be the perfect partner for Hume. Get. Him. In. (That should secure his move to [random Championship club] going on recent events.)
Kent Fox Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Time for a Helguson bandwagon? It would be nice to have a big, proven 20-a-season man. I'll settle for 15 if he helps Hume (or Fryatt ) to get a further 15. Job Done!

meadwell5 Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Despite his age, I'd rather get Andy Cole on a free. I'd have both, think we need 2 strikers, seasoned pro to bag 15 and a big powerful target man. Hume is a starter for me with the likes of Helguson. Cole and fryatt to offer compition This is all in my dreams of course

Cole and fryatt to offer compition This is all in my dreams of course Totally agree, we should definately be thinking of 2 new strikers and that's even before I would let Fryatt go. Cort, Sappleton, De Vries, Hammond, Dodds will be no use to us this year. I would definately take Andy Cole on a free and still be looking at players like Hegulson to join. Hume, Cole, Fryatt and Helguson. No target man there though so perhaps look to get a foreigner in cheap or actually put some faith in Cort staying injury free and playing well
Stevosevic Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Helguson would be good, but dont see it happening, i have no idea who we are going to end up with, especially if the Fowler, Campbell and possible Mcleod deals do not work out in our favour.
