Leicfox Posted 27 May 2007 Share Posted 27 May 2007 SALISBURY City has refuted claims made in today's Non-League Paper that top striker Matt Tubbs is about to move to Leicester City in a deal worth £100,000. The article hinted that Tubbs' departure from the England camp, due to his suffering a broken toe, was engineered to give him time to talk to the Championship club. Tubbs had scored on his debut for the National Game XI in Tuesday's 5-0 win against the Republic of Ireland. advertisement The striker, who netted 30 goals last season, helping City secure promotion to the Blue Square Premier via the play-offs, returned home on Friday and joined other City players at the club's end of season dinner. A spokesman for Salisbury City said today: "The story suggests that the injury was a smokescreen. "We've been in touch with the England medical staff and we've also seen the x-ray showing the break that will keep Matt out for four to six weeks. "We would like to make it very clear that we have not had any contact from any club for any Salisbury City player. "We are not looking to sell any of our players - in fact the opposite. "We are currently looking at improving our squad further and we have a war chest in order to do so." :dunno: http://www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/sport/spo...speculation.php

Chelve84 Posted 27 May 2007 Share Posted 27 May 2007 he is an exciting player, but don't know whether he could do it championship level, but then again look at kightly and ward at wolves. I think probably martin allen has had him watched and probably wa gona take him to mk dons but decided he would try and bring him here.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 May 2007 Share Posted 27 May 2007 That is a bit of a coincidence. I saw yesterday that he had scored for England's Non-League side and was wondering why he was still playing for them because the commentators were talking him up during the Forest game and he actually looked really good in that game on top of that. Intriguing. I bet Louis Dodds would score 30 goals for Salisbury City though.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 May 2007 Share Posted 27 May 2007 You can remember that? Honest? I remember the goal. Middle of the goal three yards out after he'd turned the defender a treat. Manwell is just a prize geek for putting the name of the ground though.
JoeyB Posted 27 May 2007 Share Posted 27 May 2007 He might turn out like Micheal Kightly would be better if we got him on loan then made an offer if he was good imho
